Chris, great job on the rebuild and sorting the power steering issue :thumleft: ,but I can't help thinking that Tony offloaded the car at just the right time :!:

Sold is a more suitable word to use as offloaded could be interpreted as selling me the car without mentioning the tired engine and possible supercharger rebuild which was not the case. On my first visit Tony spent almost three hours telling all about the car, warts and all and the amount of parts in boxes he included was amazing and included a complete spare front bumper, an engine which I dropped into my old red 8, a compression tester, two almost new tyres and a new tyre on another Speedline wheel plus.........
Perhaps you will understand now why I consider "offloaded" as inappropriate to describe Tony's sale of the car.

Replaced my 15A STOP fuse... To have all 3 brake lights now work. Seems my wiring job a while back was good enough! :D got a spare bulb now for the third brake light but ah well! Happy that it all works again. Just need new tyres for fronts.

Now the steering is working it must be squeezing the oil out! As its raining I think I will go and crawl under the car immediately and follow the rainbow trail to the leaks source!

Did something hit or did part of the undertray or wheel arch liner just come undone?

Something absolutely walloped the underside of the car. Bent an exhaust hanger causing the exhaust to shove the heatshield up, which then rubbed against the prop shaft.. My cat now rattles (which was the rattley noise probably) due to being hit and somethings blown through to the silencer from the cat. Might clear up though... Damage wasnt too bad luckily... But the amount it could have done... Thankfully my mechanics ramps were free. Had it over there in 5 minutes and he didn't charge me a penny for looking/bending everything back. Glad it wasn't anything super serious.

New cat for the next MOT is a very likely outcome me thinks. Thats in december and I won't be driving past october probably. Hoping for a winter run about so I don't have to put the 8 through salt and grime.

Quite likely yeah. Both of those pass MOTs without a doubt right? I think the current cat was some 200 quid cheapy job. Was put on 2-3 years ago before I got the car so I doubt it would have passed this MOT anyway tbh.

The Essex Rotary cat is type approved so should be fine anywhere.
The Ryan Rotary 200cpi should meet emissions requirements
The Ryan Rotary 100cpi is unlikely to meet emissions requirements for MOT.

The Essex rotary one definitely does as I had that until I changed to the Pettit system with the high flow cat which also passes fine.

Awesome Ill keep those both in mind. Was considering buying a cheap cat + a decat and swapping at MOT time. But if the ANPR cameras get this acoustic stuff everywhere... Might not be a good idea.

Also I forgot to use foxed.ca to adjust for altitude for my compression results the other day.

Rear Rotor:

5.55 6.0 6.37

Front Rotor:

5.55 5.26 5.48

Not an outstanding difference with altitude factored in. The rear rotor having one result at 5.55 isn't a huge worry is it?
