I like this idea of a pressure feed to the SOHN. Do you have a recirculating circuit so that the pump runs constantly bleeding off unwanted pressure and flow?

Not an RX-8 and not even mine either. But I love these cars so much, it must have been wonderful to have owned one way back when they first came out - they still feel special ~25 years later.

Back when the RX7 came out nothing could touch it apart from possibly the R32 GTR, remember as a kid a neighbour had an FC which was a Japanese import but didn't really know anything about rotaries back then.

Passed my MOT yesterday and they brought it out front and ended up flooding it [-X
Luckily holding the accelerator down started it after around five seconds.

Sadly they didn't give the emissions data but I fitted the OEM cat which was in good condition so it should have been decent and not marginal, sounds so restricted and quiet.

The previous owner barely used the car before I bought it as a non runner back in 2017 wonder if they flooded it and then sold it on?

heard a "sproing" the other day accelerating out of a roundabout (somewhat spirited), no noticable sag on the move, but when parked up driver rear looked and felt lower that near side. hmmm thinking spring has gone. ordered new eibach springs. went to garage to fit them, removed off side wheel, good look around all corners.....uummmm no springs broken. moral of the story...have a good fecking look before diving in head first lmfao

I commenced Operation Make The Typhoon Slightly Less Poo. The first stage involved self adhesive Stormguard draught excluder, Screwfix flexible ducting and installing the Revi Air Ram Duct. How Racing Beat have a good reputation is beyond me. But I managed to get around their pants design flaws with good 'ol bodgery... and Sugru.

Sugru
Uis
Galways
Rthe
Uanswer

...or something like that. Stage 2 involves having some bits custom made and butchering other parts. So that'll be fun too.

Just a top tip, the Racing Beat REVi duct is designed for the S1 and requires a little bodgery to fit the R3 :thumleft:

Specifically the Revi Ram was designed for the US-spec Series 1, what a different crash structure behind the bumper, so needs different brackets to even fit a UK S1.

If you buy direct from Clive he includes a set of these (locally made)

Thanks guys. Yup this is the 'newest' version that includes R3 fitting instructions. So no worries there. It's just poorly thought out. Like the mounting bracket that requires re-routing of a cable for example. But you only find that out come fitting time and the instructions forget to mention it. One of a few fun surprises. It's all doable, it just shouldn't should be left to the customer to problem solve. Especially given what they charge for what's really just a bit of moulded plastic.

Yeah my wife ordered it from Clive, who passed the order over to the US distributor to fulfill (US shipping labels). I've moaned about the state in which it was shipped previously and that it came damaged on arrival (but I've kept it anyway). Not been the best experience so far.

Interesting. I would have thought that since the fronts do all the steering and most of the braking work it was worth putting your best tyres on the front axle.

I would always put on driven wheels - as that's where you will lose traction. (putting you in the hedge you see FWD or the hedge you don't see RWD)
I'm sure someone will have another opinion though... :)

Always on the back.

I also put the better tyres on the back of front-wheel-drive cars, because understeer is still safest for them. And because tyres last for ever on the rear of a front-wheel-drive car, so if you never swap the old rear tyres to the front then they never wear out. And you end up changing them because they are old and cracked, rather than worn out. And I hate throwing away tyres with tread still on them.

Another consideration is that you want the lower tread depth on the front because it's much better to aquaplane on the front axle. If the rear aquaplanes then you can spin on the motorway, and that's no fun.

The lack of advice regarding rerouting the release cable is probably due to the instructions initially being for LHD cars!
