I saw a program a couple of weeks ago where they were saying that a huge percentage (over 70% in London) of hybrid vehicles are being driven as just petrol-powered, all the time. Many are being returned at end-of-lease with the charging cable still sealed in the original packaging.

Companies/drivers are being given tax incentives and charge exclusions for choosing these car but the technology is just dead-weight.
Drivers can't be bothered and the infrastructure just isn't in place.

Last time I went to Hospital, I found half of the 2nd floor of the multi-storey carpark is now designated for electric vehicles, and every one of those spaces were taken. Though I didn't bother to check if all the cars were electric but I did notice that only two were actually plugged-in.

Yeah it's been yet another massive scam, with no one apparently to be held accountable.

I'm having a Renault Zoe, so a full on EV. On a rental hire rather than proper lease, so there's no cash bung for me from the government. But it is only £200ish pounds a month to hire (all in) and that's less than I pay in fuel alone, so it pays for itself. It's only a monthly rolling contract too, so you can skip a month and restart later in the year. So there's no long contract period.

But yeah, whether the charge points will be blocked by non-charging vehicles is another matter. I'm used to similar when people who shouldn't swipe the parent and child bay right in front of me. Infuriating it is, and not fair that my little ones have to cross a dangerous car park so that 'Madame' in her Chelsea Tractor has a shorter walk to the shop.

Noticed an oil leak on the driver's side, FR wheel covered in the stuff and pooled underneath. From what I've looked up it seems to be the oil cooler line. Sent it in to the lads at the garage...

Unusual for that one to go but not unheard of.
You'll struggle to find the line for sale on its own, so maybe best bet is to have one made up at your local hydraulic supplier.

The one that goes from cooler to cooler I've had made for about £50 in the past.
About £150 for a full kit.

That was the diagnosis they gave, and that's what they're getting done. :thumright:
Apparently it made a total mess of the brakes (which I just got replaced :|)as well, so they're doing something or other to those.
So sadly I won't be able to get her back until tomorrow.

I have known people try the wankel solution on the friction material for oil contamination.... Burn it off (using acetylene)
But for the cost of pads I dont think I'd risk it, and everything else will clean up.

I spent a rather drizzly day preparing the stock alloys for a respray. Sanding back all the old paint which had started to peel and react in places. Going for a nice easy gloss black to compliment the velocity red. Image

Any nut pics?

I’ve always been tempted by lightweight nuts but it’s hard to be sure how safe they will be.

If those are alloy valve caps then expect them to be seized solid next time you try to check pressures, unless (and sometimes even if) you used some silicon grease when you fitted them.

The airbox is way easier to remove after the engine has been running, as the heat softens the concertina section. On 192s you can cut off the moulded clip that would hold the VFAD vacuum pipe on a 231. This makes the airbox even easier to remove/replace.
