Not me personally, but nutty chappie, fitted new ecu(plus everything that goes with it) so I no longer have a check engine light shining (for apv fault) plus new drivers door actuator so it locks and unlocks, and pz wheels with really good hankook tyres on the front and basically new advans on the rear.
Thanks nutty chappie.

The fact that's it's sorned and not being driven adds to the something else allure. Have fancied a FD2 for a while. I think once spring comes around and driving it, will hopefully put that thought to bed.

yeah its a funny one, some days I'm like I think its time to move on to something non rotary but I love the rotary engine so I stick with it.The fact that she's an R3 helps because they are rare ( and I wont lie here ) but I love the attention she gets especially here in Ireland where there are only three in the country.

I had her serviced last week ( big service ) and she's running beautifully. When everything comes together with these cars they are awesome but I don't have to tell you that ;)

It may be better to discuss this idea elsewhere, so mods would you move it or tell me where it should be, please?
I would be very interested if there was a way to increase the economy of the RX8 even if that meant reducing the power output.
I realise I will be in a minority, maybe of 1, but it bothers me (from an ecological point of view) that the fuel consumption is as high as it is.
I'm talking about an actual improvement not lowering the cost by using LPG for example.
For me, the particular attraction of the RX8 is it's balance and handling and steering so I would be prepared to accept a moderate reduction of power output.
Is there any way to achieve this?

Apart from accelerating gently and driving smoothly anticipating hazards thus minimising slowing down I doubt there us anything that can be done. That's the approach I use with the M3 which does make a difference but I just accept the price of smiles in the M3 and RX-8 is low mpg.

Might gain a little with a custom map from a specialist, I believe the rx8 does respond to some tweaks that gain power by running slightly less fuel, if that makes a difference to economy I'm not sure, but you can gain a little more power, so the potential is to use less fuel for the same amount of acceleration if you'd can modulate your right foot accordingly. Not sure how measurable any of this would be though.

If you're not trolling then you clearly haven't done your homework on these cars..

..and if you're so concerned 'ecologically',why are you even buying a sports/performance car anyway :?:

Less power for better economy...

... less accelerator input? Wooden block under the pedal?
Nothing more fancy than that will bag you a better result, really.

Ecologically your best bet would be to drive it as little as necessary and get a daily - if you sell it then someone else will only be putting miles on it.

In the words of Doug Stanhope, anyone's best bet ecologically is to not reproduce at all - everything else is a drop in the ocean, comparatively.

We aren't ever going to have kids so I might get a guilt-free FD :D
