Are you sure you're isn't aftermeerkat as I don't think I've ever had an R3 sump plug that's been magnetic.

Mine is/was magnetic, swapped it over for a GReddy magnetic one as had it anyway. I think my g/box and diff are magnetic too?

Was just going by the release notes... or whatever the technical term is in car land. The diagram (if I can ever find it) just shows a magnet attached to the sump base inside, rather than the whole sump being magnetised. Have never tested it myself tho. Normally whenever I'm under there I'm too busy blinking out whatever carcinogen just dripped in my eyeballs.

Changed the oil and filter on the R3 yesterday.
Managed to get 5litres out with the Pella pump.
I’m getting too old for crawling under the car though! Getting to the oil filter is a right pain!

Put a bottle of cataclean in the tank and went for a 20mile drive, started to notice the driver's seat rail and driver's side of the central console are becoming very hot after a drive.

You did well. I've never got more than 4 litres out. That's draining out the plug though. Tried using a pump in winter and sprayed oil across the engine bay and all over the bodywork. Epic fail

Changed the oil filter on my S1 yesterday and compared to a R3, they’re supposed to the easier of the two. Serious grazed knuckles and a lot of profanity of course. Didn’t help that the hulk fitted it originally #-o

What you need (as does everybody) is an oil filter cap/socket thing. Fits perfectly on the flats on top. Will never not-undo an oil filter.

Drove to Le Mans and back. Finally burnt off all the oil that ended up everywhere after the oil cooler line split a month ago.

Gone for a nice evening blast to Cheltenham and back to pick up another set of wheels. Quite satisfied with my purchase given that I got 4 lightly used Federal RS-Rs plus wheels which themselves have been refurbed and are in much better condition that my others. All for less money than a new set of tyres.

Thanks to @ChrisHolmes for the tip off and inviting me round for coffee after I'd collected them

Pretty happy with the service, dropped off at 8, ready by 12:30. Not sure they appreciated my notice about stop/start procedure and flooding blue tacked onto the steering wheel....

Main technician/salesman - "we are a Mazda dealership, our technicians know all about the RX8"...i wasn't convinced but work has been done, filled her up and no leaks so no complaints.

Well, was going to top the oil up today as I had the oil light pop on on the way home from work (And then turned itself off?), however, checked the dipstick after I had let her sit for a while (Bit of food shopping and a coffee) and the oil level was still pretty high... slightly worrying?

Oh, and then she didn’t wanna fire up straight away?!

Oil level sensor can throw a wobbly like that sometimes. Might just be a dirty connection.
