Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I'm looking at changing the oil myself. Thanks to Dave for the extensive write up at
https://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/v ... 30&t=51510
especially:
<< Drain can: I use a cat litter tray with the litter (and the cat) removed – these are dead cheap in Tescos. Cheap (unused) cat litter is also good to clean-up oil spills.>> (my italics) as well as many serious and useful tips.
Has anyone any experience of this alternative to the Pela pump?:
KATSU Tools 481507 7L Manual Vacuum Fluid and Oil Extractor , which at £39 is a bit cheaper than the Pela at £54 (both at amazon) ?

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
its just the standard K&N pannel filter, I will clean it when the cleaning kit arrives won't hurt, it did look quite clean after giving it a tap.
As for the 10 inch pumkin stereo, its fits well, it covers a bit of the air vent but not much about 1/2 inch. the stereo sticks out a bit so there is no problem reaching the hazard button, I'm happy with it also when you change the stereo the fascia is quite plain a lot of black shiny plastic this stereo covers most of it.

The K&N cleaning kits come with an oil spray for after cleaning, do NOT use the oil spray after! RX8 runs oil free dry air filters. So just use the cleaning part then leave the filter to dry.

A very light oiling should be fine, as long as there's no residue that can contaminate the MAF

I’ve always oiled the filter on previous cars. Just enough to turn it from white to light pink.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I also put a very light oil coating on my RB REVi filter cone (and it's a race car). I really don't think it's wise to run a K&N with no oil. It relies on being "sticky" to catch dust, so without the oil the best it can do is stop rocks and small birds getting in.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Just spent 2 hours washing the car and waxing it, must of sponged it 3 times due to the damn pollen everywhere, was going to do the insides too, but realised the time!
Also freshened up the wiper blades, clogged up with pollen and dead bugs, should be able to see clearer now!

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Guys need some help I had the car in for the fuel tank recall last week as some on here know I've also had an issue with dsf wheel hitting the inner liner when on full rh lock. Anyways got a Mazda health check but they never mentioned the ball joint recall I'm wondering if this could be the issue I'm having is there a way too check if car has had that recall?

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
PM me your VIN and I can check to see if your car was included in the scope for the suspension arm recall.

Fitted new Air cups to my coilovers, now I can get over speed humps no problem.

I wondered too, until I found this:-

which appears to explain it all (of course I can't say if it's right).

Seems logical that might be it. Wonder what the cost is as well.johnbb99 wrote: ↑Sat May 12, 2018 9:14 pmI wondered too, until I found this:-

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Interesting, I like low cars but living in London speed bumps rule that out, seen Porsches with similar tech.
Noticed some clanging noise at idle and finally narrowed it down, cat heatshield had come loose so fixed it with some manifold wrap and steel cable ties.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Air cups are made by Stance parts, they lift the car up at the front by 2” allowing you to get over speed humps etc on lowered cars, similar to the Porsche’s but this is operated by air. They also allow you to use your coilovers still allowing you to do track days, unlike air bags which are not ideal for track days from what I understand. They also cost £600.00 compared to air bags which can cost a few thousand.

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
After standing for a month I took the Rx8 out for a breath of fresh air. Started straight away and I had quite a few bleeps.
After 3300 miles in the last three weeks in the M3 it was quite a contrast and the sound, smell, rattles and bumps of the RX8 reminded me why I love the car.
