I had my work van towed on a dolly coming out the back of an AA van about 2 months ago. So yes they do (it was the first time I've ever seen that setup so probably not all that common)

Can someone please explain why it's bad for the LSD as I don't think it would be detrimental but I cannot explain why!

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
When I recover buses with automatic transmission I always remove a half shaft but thats because with the engines not running the gearbox pump is not pumping, so pressure builds up in the box and bang. Best part of 4K to replace one of those bad boys.
So I go by that principal

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Thinking about the towing-on-the-front-wheels issue:-
A) what if the wheels aren't dead ahead when the steering column lock engages?
B) can that column lock be relied on to hold the steering straight?
Or am I ignorant, and the steering is locked in some other way...?

a) you crab
b) no
they use other methods for securing the steering straight. a steering lock would never be relied on.

Apparently you used to be able to buy eeeeenourmous ones that probably definitely were able to hold an Escort axle on to the car to drive it back to the garage apparently probably, who knows.

That was a trouser belt which then gave birth to the modern cable tie!

Recall - had the fuel pump sealing ring replaced today at TW Whites in Islington. Couple of hours work and back on the road again - feeling mightily relieved that they didn't flood it or otherwise bugger my car up.....

Which is why its worth a 60 mile drive each way to use them. They took care of the airbag recall last year, too.PeteH wrote:Unlikely. Cap'n Black in the pilot seat, please fasten your seatbelts as we're expecting a lot of turbulence.
