Changed gear box oil (37,250 miles), highly recommend filling through the shifter tower. 10 minutes to get the gear stick out saved all the hassle under the car. Two bottles of Redline MT-90, and just a little over spill from the fill plug.

Wasn't sure if it needed changing as drain and fill plug had signs of being removed previously, so assume must have been changed at some point before I had her, however glad I did:

image.jpeg

Been following the discussions on MT-90 and short shifters recently as I now have both.

However all that aside gear changes have never been an issue, not much change with fresh oil, and so easy to change no need to use any force on the short shifter. Then again at 37k I would hope not.

Snetterton on Monday so might have a different story to tell after that.

Yup. Image

Friday night is curry and lager night! Saturday is normally 'brain to neutral' day.

Tonight? Settling down with some ginger wine as a winter warmer!

Couple of quick final checks before packing the car ready for Snetterton tomorrow, quick look at back breaks to check slid pins were working ok, found the pads down to 2mm

Fitted new pads, could have been embarising

Only fitted the pads in June less than 2k. A few track sessions in that time but still?

My thoughts are I did not take enough off the ends of the pads Standard Mintex which do not fit without a little adjustment.

I assume they were not releasing fully.

Either that or they really aren't man enough for the track, thoughts please.

Cheers

Terry.

I've always found yellow stuff pads to wear very well for track and road use. Definitely make sure they slide properly within the carriers, made this mistake with a set of standard pads and they wore unevenly and much much sooner than they should have

It's nice to know you can rely on the AA when it comes to car issues.
Reading their review of the PZ, I see that:
" The 1.3-litre rotary unit uses twin rotors instead of pistons. Its key advantages are smoothness and high engine speeds, thanks to the reciprocating motion replacing the traditional up and down movement of pistons. "
and
"A space saver spare wheel is fitted beneath the boot floor."
I must go and look for mine.

I suspect careless copying of the wrong phrase from a press release (etc), but you'd think they would get it right.

You appear to have dropped a reciprocating rod. Time for new carbon sticks.

It's either a glamorous woman, as in dolly bird, or a thing used under something to help move it around, basically a jack on wheels, unless you have a bump whilst moving said item around in which case its what you use with a hammer to knock out the dent from the bump

It's bad for rwd's with LSD's for them to be towed long distances using dollies.

:D

Had an, interesting, discussion with someone in the states who thinks rather highly of themselves about this.
Also I believe it to be a gearbox issue rather than diff.

Thanks, Paul, three meanings for the price of one!
Thanks very much Mr. Mysterious Untakenname [ :) ] for the explanation, which I must remember in case I encounter a boneheaded recovery operative.
(And I've just seen your comment 13black, thanks.)
(I wonder if any of the recovery services still tow with the car's rear wheels rotating on the ground?)
