First car was this E reg Escort 1.3l, nobody could start this car first time but me :P

Image

Had a couple other fords too, this Fiesta RS1800 was a really fun drive.

Image

This Puma 1.7 was also great, handed well and was pretty reliable too. Took a while to find one that wasn't rusty though.

Image

This MR2 was my first rwd car.

Image

Toyota Celica vvti, I loved this car, only the 140 version, but reliable, fairly economical, fun and looked nice too.

Image

BMW 318is, my first german car.

Image

Golf GTI 1.8T, this was great little car.

Image

I then (foolishly) hankered after more power, this Celica GT4 ST205 was superb, full exhaust with 1.0 bar boost :D

Image

Another Celica GT4, this one was a WRC and even quicker than the silver one.

Image

Impreza RB5, number 287/444, I loved this car.

Image

Something a bit more sensible, a  Bmw 325i sport.

Image

A Landover freelander (don't ask), you think the RX8 is thirsty...

Image

Clio 1.4 16v, "inbetweener"

Image

Evo 8 fq300.

Image

At totb

Image

BMW compact 320d, I drove this as a daily for a couple of years, a very good way to save some money, nothing went wrong, apart from a hole in the exhaust that I replaced for cheap. Didn't even service it! [-X

Paid £600, sold for £530

Image

Currently own this X5 3.0d sport as the main family car, Auto with sport mode, full leather, electric everything, satnav etc, I love it, especially for long journeys.

Image

It's a nice partner for the PZ.
Ex - Galaxy Grey Mazda RX8 PZ
Current - BMW X5 & baby YZF

Like I told my last wife, I says, "Honey, I never drive faster than I can see, besides that, it's all in the reflexes."

Before the PZ I had a 54' Vectra 2.0t that I got for £650 and fixed up. Sold it when the clutch went and got £50 more than I paid for it.

But for the last 4 years my daily has always been this. A 1993 Nissan Micra K11 Super S. One of the tidiest still alive by my reckoning, and almost as old as I am!

Vauxhall Corsa SRI 1.4
Vauxhall Cav mkII 1.6
Vauxhall Astra 1.4
Vauxhall Corsa SRI 1.8
Vauxhall Nova 1.2
Toyta Supra 1986 3.0
BMW 316 1.6
Lexus IS200 2.0
RX8 1.3 (2.6 but shh..)

As you can see i was very very much in to the Vauxhall scene when i was younger. I then transitioned in to RWD and that's the way it will be from now on... Well until i get myself a Vauxhall Zafira GSI as the family car only if it's capable of towing a trailer and car. If not then i need something bigger and better.

Automotive History

Post by Harrymonk »

Might be on my own here but I can recite my car history somewhat in order, not dates as been a while. Probably not like some who have been motoring for years and got too many to list.

When compared to my friends I seem to have an eclectic mix of types and manufacturers, well maybe a Vauxhall fan in my early driving days  .

Anyone else remember some or all of their car history?

Harrymonk:
Learnt in a Vauxhall Corsa
First Car - Vauxhall Cavalier MK3
2. Calibra 2.0
3. VW Passat (estate)
4. Vauxhall Omega MK1
5. Vauxhall Nova MK 2 GSI
6. Vauxhall Cavalier GSI
7. Ford Escort XR3 Cab
8. VW Golf MK2 Driver
9. Peugeot 106 Quicksilver
10. Vauxhall Vectra SRI
11. Smart Car Four Two
12. Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo
13. Current Works - Citroen C1
14. Current Weekend - RX8

Just thought it interesting, understand there are not many compared to some.

LOL my car history seems positively dull in comparison to many on here!

Fiat Strada - 1.3 engine and a body mainly comprised of filler!
FiatStrada.jpg
Fiat Coupe - bought it planning to keep for a year or so and ended up keeping for 10 years! Stock engine but Bilstein/Eibach suspension, uprated front and rear ARB's, custom made front brace and 1 degree negative camber dialled out all the understeer and sharpened up the handling a treat!
IMG_0048.JPG
E Class Merc - company car, actually a great car, very relaxing to drive, but clearly I wasn't particularly bothers as no pics of it!

Range Rover - 3.6 TDV8, my current daily driver, now on 125k, fantastic for hauling the kids around in and supremely comfortable on long journeys!
20161011_094530467_iOS.jpg
The PZ is purely a weekend car and is garaged most of the time - having bought it in April at 22k miles, it still less than 23k miles on the clock! Complements the Range Rover really well, completely different driving experiences!

Before the kids arrived my wife used to have a Z4 coupe 30. SI Sport - great fun and much more lairy than a Boxster or Cayman! The BMW straight six is a lovely engine, loads of power in any gear!

2001 Mazda 323F 1.6 Gxi.

Owned by my parents from new, became mine in 2009, still being used daily! Owned from 46k miles, now on somewhere over 117k.

Wish I'd kept the 400. They're probably worth in excess of £25k now and as for the RS500, £60k plus:(
