BMW E46 M3 (Really cool car, great shape, quite similar to the rx8 in driving feel. Rx8 grips the road a lot better)
BMW E92 M3 (This was immense, probably the best car i'll have ever owned)

Vauxhaull Zafira SRI (Trying to have a family car but keep it interesting. Wasnt even slightly interesting)
Mecedes Benz GL420 (big mistake, absolute money pit. Though, 400bhp twin turbo 4.2 litre v8 with brabus tune box. 0-60 in 5.5 seconds - not bad for a 3.5 tonne behemoth)
Land rover freelander (Still going strong with 170k miles)

So after a while with nothing proper to enjoy i picked up the RX8, total impulse buy but glad i did!

A late driver so only three for me:

Mazda 3, 2.0 petrol, 04 plate - lasted 3 months before it was scrapped, RIP.

My list over the last 11 years, Bold are still owned. As with most of us, I ussually run something sensible, with something not! Here goes...

2008 - 2002 (52) Ford Ka (Stepmum's car from new, which I inherited at 17. Drove it a lot (60k miles in 2.5 years!))
2010 - 2008 (08) Fiat Bravo Sport Multijet 150 (Needed a bigger, newer quicker car. Went well for what it was, great mpg too)
2011 - 2008 (58) Mitsubishi i (Awesome little Kei car, needed an auto and I like to be different. Thirsty for 660cc though!)
2012 - 2010 (10) Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart (Underrated hot hatch. Brilliant fun and quick, should never have sold it)
2012 - 1994 (M) Volvo 850 T5 Manual Estate (Was too cheap to not buy. Amazing noise and thrust of the 5 cyl. lump was addictive, 15 MPG wasn't...)

2016 - 2005 (55) Mazda RX8 231 (Bought for less than £300 with no MOT. Good car but had too many issues)
2016 - 2005 (55) VW Polo Sport 1.9 TDI 130 (Bought for the missus to learn in. Kept it for a year, great car with immense torque)
2017 - 2004 (04) Toyota Celica T Sport (Bought as a cheap car to use on trackdays. Utterly reliable, great to drive flat out, but not enough fun day-to-day so it sat on the drive a lot)
2018 - 2012 (61) BMW Z4 20i M Sport (Treated the missus to something nice. She still loves it)
2018 - 2010 (60) Renault Laguna Initiale dCi 180 Estate (Bought very cheap to allow me to get out of the company car scheme. Surprised me how much I liked it)
2019 - 2010 (10) Mercedes E350 CDI Sport Coupe (Always wanted a big coupe with a big diesel. This is the perfect daily (for me!))
2020 - 2007 (07) Mazda RX8 Kuro (Bought to replace the Celica above. Missed my old 231, so bought this with the intention of keeping her long-term)

I posted in this thread like 12 years ago, so I figured I'd update it with all the stuff since then (there's quite a bit)

1963 Land Rover Series IIA SWB Ford Fiesta Seats, rebuilt the engine myself, still runs apparently, sold because of MPG that would make an RX8 blush.
1989 Austin Rover Maestro 1.3 Clubman, three radiators and a clutch cable, sold for a tenner
1988 Austin Rover Maestro 1.3 L Wheel bearing failed
1987 Ford Fiesta 1.1 Popular Short time drive, scrapped when front cross member broke under braking, front links on suspension ripped out.
1983 Volkswagen Golf 1.3L Early Mk II, took no end of abuse, sold it an old lady who never drives it, just washes it.
2000 Vauxhall Astra 1.4 LS Company Car, it is a bad idea to give a 20 year old CarYob anything with a modicum of power and absolve him of all responsibility for its running cost. It had two new gearboxes in 3 months after some speed testing and burnouts!
1996 Vauxhall Astra 1.4 LS Company Car, Fleet wreck given to me after second gearbox in nice astra, died when I tried to take a roundabout at 80 on the day I was leaving the job!
1991 Rover 218D No turbo, No Power Steering, did 55mpg, I did over 25,000 miles in this car without a hitch. My sister spun it into a hedge.
1995 Ford Mondeo 1.8TD LS First half decent car bought with my own money. Used to do 450 miles on a tank of diesel. Survived an encounter with a motorway crash barrier.
1999 Ford Mondeo V6 Si First car with proper power I bought, used to cruise from home to various naval bases at ridiculous speed in it. Survived being run into by a woman in a peugeot at some traffic lights and spun into a bank by me. V6 made a lovely growl, handled well for a big old bus.
1991 Range Rover Vogue SE Drunken Ebay impulse purchase. Drove it for six months before the V8 started making nasty noises, have harboured desires to restore it with a new bigger motor and more power but I am now resigned to ebaying it for peanuts. It's got a good chassis, bodywork okay, interior good, transmission good, new tyres and it still ran when I parked it up, got sold for not a lot in 2009, wish I'd hung onto it as it would be worth lots now!
2004 Mazda RX8 230 Sunlight Silver. Has been parked since 2012 with a duff engine, recently got enough money together to make it run properly (I don't have the time or space to fix it myself so it's spending COVID19 isolation with Aston and Ryan at Essex Rotary) now known as #project66
2002 Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDDI Ghia X. Awesome smoker, I bought it for £2400 with 69k on the clock and I did 130,000 miles in it in 6 years. Gave it away for free when the starter motor died and the variable geometry turbo stopped being variable.
2006 Saab 9-3 2.0T Aero Sportwagon - Mondeo replacement, very comfortable, almost comically good at going from 60 to *** mph in 4th gear. Has been hit by two deer with only minor bumper damage, will do 40 mpg if you stay off boost. Tows my caravan nicely too (19 mpg when towing, but does 19 mpg when towing at 60 mph and at 70 mph).
1994 Mazda MX5 1.6 Brilliant little machine that the girlfriend used daily, unfortunately the tin worm meant it needed £2000 of welding and we sold it for pennies!
1999 Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec - Comically fun to drive, sold when I bought the next one.
1994 Mitsubishi Pajero 2.8TD GLS LWB - Bought when I harboured ambitions of turning the RX8 into a racing car. Ended up with a Safari Tent on the roof and towing my caravan. Did worse fuel mileage than the RX8 and when the roof tent was on it would barely crack 80mph. Smokey old beast too. Sold for not a lot when it failed its MOT due to a rusty chassis.
2008 Peugeot 107 3 door - Tiny but currently serves as my work commuter because it costs virtually nothing to run (50+ mpg and £20 a year to tax, insurance is like £150 a year too now I am old and sensible), actually quite good fun to drive in a low grip, low power kinda way.
2017 Peugeot Partner Panel Van - The dog van. Because my dogs have fallen onto their paws after being strays/rescue dogs, they now have their own transport, a low miles Peugeot Van that has a custom built dog cage in the back so that the dogs can go to work with the girlfriend and relax in air-conditioned splendor in between walks and barking at passers by. It also tows the caravan and for a van has quite a few nice toys. (Apple Car play, cruise control and air con for starters) It's a nice thing to drive too in a Postman Pat kinda way.

Wow, there's a lot of history in some of these posts! Interesting reading though for sure. My own car history:

• 1999-2001 Mk2 Fiesta (1987) - learned to drive and first year or so of driving. Kept it on SORN for a year or two after I got my next car, as I thought my brother might like it to learn on. He never did, so instead I gave it away to a kid (think he was about 16?) on a forum, he was planning on using it for autograss.

• 2001-now Mk3 Ford Capri (1986) - at age 20/21 a family friend was selling it. My mum told me not to buy it, so I did the next day Still have it, bit of a project, but getting fed up with it being off road.

• 2012-2013 MG ZR (2003) - Was getting fed up with worrying about the capri over winter so decided to pick up a cheap winter car. Actually quite liked it, until the engine seized up. Bought a spare engine from a neighbour that had the same car. That engine was also knackered before it even got started. Ebayed it for £200

• 2014-2017 Honda CRV MK1 (1998) - Another winter car. Gave it to my dad, on the basis that whatever he sells it for he passes on to me, when I got...

• 2017-2019 Alfa Romeo 159 3.2 V6 AWD (2007) - Absolute steal for £2300, for the V6 with the sought after 19" alloys. Absolutely loved every second of owning it. Had some issues after about a year that turned out to be "minor", which for an Alfa with an engine that never sold in high numbers, came to £2600. October last year the engine died on me on. The oil level thing on the dash had stopped working and it ran too low, seizing up. Was quoted £5,000 odd for repairs, so sold it on too. Got my RX8 after
