Further to my recent post about Alan Gibson of Basingstoke, I finally got around to lifting the bonnet today to check the oil.

Blimey! They even cleaned up the engine bay for me! :o

I guess the car will be back there for the next service :)

Well,Just had 3rd service at rrg stockport and at first all seemed fine......but then -2 days- I took her for Mot as i always like a independant view point;pads 90% worn {90% remaining according to service sheet} sump plug leaking as old washer had been used:rear difff same: wipers were fine{80% worn according to service sheet};suspension drop downs {replaced under warranty} 2 bolts loose. So she was passed with 3 advisororys which dos'nt look good to say the least! Of course the dealers mot man would have said somthing.........would'nt he? So she is back in tommorrow with a new header tank being fitted as well! So a warranty is needed-warranty wise at £65 a month?
cheers will

Just had my car in to Marriott's Mazda in Boston. Was only for a compression test but they threw in a full vehicle health check for free at the same time (don't know if that is standard procedure or not). Test itself was reasonably well priced at £75.

Staff were extremely courteous and all seemed to know what they were talking about, I didn't get the usual speech about why would anyone want to get a compression test if they have no problems with the car, they just did it without complaint. They found that the spark plugs were put in the wrong way round which they replaced properly, found that one of the wiper blades had split so replaced that free of charge and advised that emissions and tyres were ok, giving the read outs for both.

All in all I was very impressed with their level of service and knowledge and at a fairly reasonable price too. Wouldn't hesitate to take it in for next service due in July as they seem to know their stuff.

Just serviced @ MKG3000 in west london, I had to wait 4 hrs :[

Previous time I was there, I waited most of the day for a service and MOT... how long does it take to get your car back folks? I get serious withdrawal symptoms when handing my keys over (I am not joking either).

Anyways just so everyone knows, theres also a new Mazda approved battery for the RX8 which they suggested to fit (i declined). Mines 60A, the new one is 70A's apparently, and its big in size.

I recently took my rather poorly RX8 into Bristol Street Mazda in Cheltenham and was very disappointed.

When I phoned up they said they had a team of technicians ready and waiting to look at my car and that they could do an assessment for c. £60. In fact it took them a week to get round to looking at it and then tried to charge me £195! Apparently £60 was the cost price which they eventually conceeded to accept.

Very corporate and not very helpful or friendly - used to be much better as Brooklyn Mazda.

Recently had mine serviced at SG Petch Darlington, 5th service £183.55 including MOT and member discount. Washed and hoovered, loan car, ready on time and recall advised and booked for revised front wheel arch trim; something to do with stopping corrosion on oil cooler pipework. Advisories given for tyre tread depth and brake pads but no hard sell, just quotes given. Don't know what else you could want from a dealer really.
231
Lockwood grille set, aluminium crest, St/St strakes, parking sensors, black leather, painted calipers, winter tyres (role on December !).
Wish list; exhaust, iPod adaptor, uprated shocks, alloy refurb, vinyl wrap, personal petrol tanker.

I took my car to Edwards Mazda in Worcester for its 4 year service and MOT and also asked them to look at the bubbling paint (corrosion underneath) on the bonnet to get a repair done under the body work warranty. When i picked it up (20th April) they said they would give me a ring about the paintwork as it takes at least 24hours to get a reply from Mazda. I waited until the 3rd of May and having not heard a thing decided to give them a ring. Turns out they haven't rung Mazda and the person i needed to speak to was on lunch and would give me a call back. No phone call. Rang again on the 5th and still no one can give me an answer but someone would ring me back  . No phone call. I rang today to speak to the manager and surprise surprise he isn't there. What is it with garages and awful customer services?!?!?

I took my car into the Taggarts Mazda in Motherwell where it appeared to get nothing but decent reviews on here. However, with the ridiculously overpriced bill and the poor customer service, also the fact they said they would give my car a full wash a polish and it came back looking like they did off roading in it, the final straw however was when they brought my car round to the front of the garage for my leaving the portly gent that had been working on it just casually switched the engine off and gave me the keys. Upon asking him if he just switched the car on for the whole 20 seconds it took him to get it round and then turn it off he replied yes. I was pretty mad about that so gave him a stern telling to, to which he replied, "And what exactly would you like me to do about it?" So really it was [edited] customer service, [edited] waiting times, [edited] garage in general. Also i found out a few weeks later there's a rotary specialist around the corner from them who are brilliant!

I went to try Cheltenham Mazda a few weeks ago. Although no-one had reviewed Cheltenham I felt Bristol would take much longer to get to so it was worth a shot. They're both owned by the same company now anyway...

Everything was fine, they kept trying to talk me out of spending money which was odd, until they tried to sell me insanely expensive tyres! But that's what you'd expect from a dealer. The only real issue was that I'd rung the week before in advance and SPECIFICALLY said I needed a courtesy car. When I got there: No cars available. I ended up waiting over an hour for one of their other customers to roll in so I could go home.

Anyone had any bad experiences with Machargs in Glasgow?

I think they have the worst customer service ever and the way they speak to you sometimes is shocking. I've got an RX8 R3 and have had terrible issues with wheel rust (wheel nuts, balancing weights, caliper rust etc) and I always get into arguments with them about it. They seem to think this is normal and get very hostile if you try and explain why you don't think it's right for it to be happening. I bought my R3 brand new when it first came out and after only a few months it started showing signs of rust on the wheel nuts and calipers. My car is now nearly 3 years old and they explained that this is normal for a 3 year old car. How can it be normal when I've only done about 12000 miles and it rusted ages ago?

If this is normal for a car like this then I won't ever be buying a car from them again as I'll just expect it to rust after a few months.

Funny how they were so nice when I was buying the car and now they speak to me like they couldn't give a damn.

If you join the club we have a 'dealer reviews' section where you may find information about a better 'nearby' dealer.

MY 40th Anniversary is still under warranty and I took it to Williams Mazda, my local dealer in Bristol for them to look at the wheels that were showing small signs of corrosion. The door seal on the drivers door was also perforated and some of the bolts that attach the door looked rusty.
Mike, the service manager took pics of the wheels and the seal and sent them to Mazda HO.
He said that they probably would not replace the seal but I pointed out that 12k miles and 2.5 yrs old this shouldn't be happening.
However, he came back and replaced the wheels, seal and bolts, all free, no labour and great service.
So, well done Williams and well done Mazda.

Last week I picked my car up from Hodgson Mazda in Newcastle.

It was in for a service and it seems they have done a great job, the car is driving so much smoother. I also needed 4 new brake pads and disc's which I already knew about. This took the bill up to a large amount, aswell as this the coolant tank was changed and a new catalytic converter, I explained to them I had just got the car and this bill is huge for me, they managed to cut the bill by 10% for me which I thought was very reasonable.

They also told me they have a mechanic who has been working on 8's since they were first released and now knows them inside out so I would very much recommend using them on this basis.

Our Mazda dealer in Aylesbury is probably the best car dealer we have encountered. It all started when i purchased a little mx-5 for my wife. This car developed a fault with the exhaust, even though it was not covered under guarantee and we had been driving it for 6 months they took the cost of the repair at nearly £1500. We then purchased a Mazda 2 on their advise as a cheap run around and we love it. They are really nice people and loaned us a new Mx-5 for our wedding as a thank you for purchasing the cars from them. I have now gone back to them for a 3rd time and out my deposit down for my new rx-8.

I think these guys are polite and very helpful, they are not the cheapest garage around but they sure give you more for the money. There sales team are helpful I have never had the feeling they are trying to take my pants down like some car dealers do. the service team is just as good performing prompt repairs to a good standard and the normally vacuum the car to,

If anyone in the area is looking for a new Mazda definitely give em a try.

Just took my '05 RX in to Perrys in Preston
rang them after it developed an oil leak from the cooler pipes
they checked their system, it had never been back for the recall so they booked it in for the work
plus they also told me it needed recall work on the ECU ( something about a re-prog )

they've been very good so far, will let you know how its all gone when i get the car back

ok up date is as follows

took the RX8 in last monday eve
they checked out the oil cooler pipes tuesdays ordered the new ones
they were fitted by thursday lunch , so all in all not bad .......

but this is when the fun starts, they rang thursday lunch to say pipes all changed but car won't start
they reckon its flooded, little bit of hinting from their side that this may be my fault
as they'd never seen the car running, they ask if i want them to get it started if yes there would be a charge
as i'm stuck going to work on my supermoto while the cars in just said yes
( not a fair weather rider but the weather here been mental)
so assume for a mazda garage would take them 10 mins or so ..... oh how wrong i am

still waiting, starting to get a little perturbed
is there a central mazda office i can complain to does anyone know?
not giving me much confidence in Mazda dealers with regards to the rex
only reason i took it in to them and not a independent rotary spec is that it was a factory recall

so there ya go thats my experience of Preston Perrys so far
