I have to admit that you have far more patience and tolerance than me after that fiasco - if the dealers "Mazda Technicians" couldn`t sort it after a couple attempts then Mazda should be sending their field service engineers out!
Absolutely unacceptable service from a major motor manufacturer!

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
(Please forward to the relative employee) sent to canford cliffs mazda and to mazda customer services complaints dep
Dear whoever it may concern,
I am an owner of a 2008 Mazda RX8 (registration W8 ERE) in the Poole, Dorset area. In reference to the recent recall work of this particular model, the car has visited the Mazda Canford Cliffs garage 7 times. This in itself is quite frankly shocking, as one would hope the work being carried out should be correct on the first attempt. The most recent visit lasted 2 and a half days, which is a further inconvenience.
The fuel gauge is now reading worse than before, after being filled with fuel by the Mazda technicians, which lead to the car running out fuel last week while the gauge was reading 1/4 of a tank. Prior to this, the first half of the tank provided 136 miles (see attached photo), with a further 58 miles before running empty, proving the magnitude of the issue.
I am disheartened with the service I have received so far, despite my passion for the wonderful cars. Seeing as the issue itself was originally a recall from the company yourselves, it is expected that the technicians and the service provided would be specialised and effective.
I would like to know what the plan is regarding the matter, and would appreciate it being resolved as soon as possible. We have an upcoming trip around Europe in the car, including a track day, which would be affected by the fuel gauge issue in the car greatly.
Please get back to me on the matter, feel free to call me on
Many thanks,
Stephen Griffin

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
It certainly doesn`t instil a lot of confidence in owners like me that are firmly entrenched on the fence whether to leave their car safely in the hands of a knowledgeable "Mazda Technician" when they couldn`t even find one at the Mazda dealer I took mine to.
In the meantime whilst deciding I have resorted to "plan B"

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
Picked the car up tonight gauge reads full as it used to ! Area manager phoned earlier to say there was a trapped cable on sender cable behind driver and cable was around float also airlock between tanks not allowing them to be filled fully. Hopefully sorted now

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
There is only one tank, though it's saddle-shaped, there's no way to create an airlock between each side

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
Lynx Garage in Yeovil - I went there for the fuel gasket recall, and when i took the car back it smelled like construction workers (for about 2 days), the trips were reset (and i tought ''well, they must of had a drive around here''), the car was refueled with sh*t petrol, and the clutch felt abused (spongy and grindy). I recon they tryed to drift it in sticky tires. Avoid them if possible.

Thanks! I was hoping they had a good reputation as their pretty local to me and I want to check to see what recall stuff has been done on mine.Nickp47 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 23, 2018 1:01 pmThought I should point out, I have been involved with two RX-8s that have gone to Littlewick Green Mazda (they are aftersales-only for Mazda) for the fuel tank recall and both have been completed with absolutely no drama whatsoever so I will be happy to send my cars there again in future should any further recalls come out the woodwork.

To reiterate what I have said in another thread, been twice for recalls to Hodgson Mazda Gateshead and both times been completely happy.

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
Just had recalls done, including the dreaded lower suspension arms.
All done at Oldham Mazda.
Dealership was spot on, reassured me that everything was going to be fine. Was easy to book the car in, and communication was good throughout.
They gave me a courtesy car for two days. (Brand new Mazda 3, hated it)
Happy Rx8 owner.

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
Took mine in for the outstanding recall work at Littlewick Green near Maidenhead yesterday, needed the front two airbags and the fuel pump bits done.
All done in a couple of hours and picked it up without any issues, will go again if there are any more recalls (hopefully not!).

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
Took mine to the local Mazda dealer in Hull today. I booked it in almost 5 weeks ago for the 2 airbags and fuel pump recall. They managed to do the airbags but didn’t attempt the fuel pump as they’ve never done it before and it’s “a big job”. It now needs to go back to them middle of April. Oh well 2 down 1 to go, on the plus side they gave it a clean inside and out

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
Took my R3 to Macklin Motors (Mazda) in Hamilton for airbag recall, work was completed within 2 hours while I waited.
Tech (John) seemed to be very clued up on RX8's and even showed me component part he replaced and explained what the issue was.
Told him I also had my 231 with various recalls including fuel pump recall and asked me to book it in when he was back from holiday as he didn't want other non RX8 experienced staff working on my car.
Took the 231 down on a Thursday morning and got it back Friday afternoon, no issues and service was impeccable.
Would highly recommend Macklin Motors (Mazda) to anyone within central belt in Scotland (ask for John).
I was also complemented by the staff that both my cars where the nicest examples they had seen in a long time (waffle I know but still nice to hear).

Not at all.
This thread is open to anyone and is the only place for non-members to put their feedback or read feedback from others.
The members-only section can be used for more detailed responses and is much easier to navigate for future reference.
Copying (non-controversial) comments in both places is probably the best approach.

I ordered could from them a couple of years ago, no problems, they are a bit busier now than they were, but assuming you completed the order and things are in stock you'll get the stuff, could try contacting them directly.
