Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
when i used them they were a bit slow, but that's understandable, i think they need to hire a couple more staff for the shop alone!
be rest assured, they will fulfill the order, though a phone call will likely speed it up

They did mine (and the fuel pump stuff) a couple of weeks ago, haven't had any issues since.

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
So far bought a 231 from a independent dealer. Needed recalls done and dealer booked them in. I asked to collect Friday and Invicta Mazda in Maidstone said car will be ready to collect Thursday. So far not all the parts are there and won't be until at least Monday, making a one day quoted time into a 5 day. Not impressed as would happily have booked it into my local Mazda and this one is around 70 miles away and don't have a car for work on Monday.
At least hopefully the work will be of a good standard.

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
Recall for passenger air bag, booked it in last week at Coventry mazda, took it in today at 8(mechanics start at 8.30) heard my car go in(it's not subtle with a 3 inch high flow cat and a borla exhaust) hard them rev it a few times then hold before turning off, 20 minutes later heard it start again, all done, the receptionist brought the keys back saying the mechanics like my wheels, the guy who worked on it has an rx8 and insists on working on them when they come in aparantly. No issues with them every, was one of the first to get fuel pump recall done, within an hour and no leaks.
Led side lights, purple Led interior & puddle lights, pz grills, Ryan rotary performance coils, sump, engine mounts & sohn, HME engine rebuild at 50k, RRP exhaust & high flow cat, racing beat revi intake including scoop, quick shifter, alloy filler cap, pz alloys, suspension, mazdaspeed spoiler, japspeed toe arms & hardrace camber arms, RRP custom remap

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
I had the 6th service (75K miles) completed at Johnsons Mazda of Solihull although the car was only on 21K miles, the service was £297 and I supplied my own spark plugs, they failed to change the rear Diff oil and the Cabin pollen filter but they had tried to charge me for them.
I have just decided to replace the plugs again @ 30K miles and guess what when I removed the old plugs two T & L plugs were the wrong way round!
A Mazda skilled "Technician" couldn`t even manage that.

Took my 231 to Invicta Mazda in Maidstone a couple of weeks back for 5 recalls. 2 airbags, 2 to do with the fuel pump and a lower arm ball joint. They had the car for 2 days and even washed it for me and (touch wood) all appears good Only bad thing was i found a screw left in the ashtray and havent a clue where it is supposed to go

They did mine last week, I'd suggest you ask for "Nik who has the evo" to do the work, he's a mate of mine and takes good care

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
NEVER go to Brayleys Mazda in Milton Keynes! Unless...every other mechanic on the planet disappears and you have no choice!
My 1st experience with them was 4 years ago. I bought my first RX8 and thought "whom better to take it to for a full inspection". Well, £1000 later they gave me the inspection sheet (all good) and I left. I then took it to my local mechanic (one that I know and trust) and asked him to verify what was done. None of it, not a single item on their list had even been opened (or removed) or replaced.
My 2nd experience, this week, was for recall work (pass air bag and fuel tank). When I dropped it off I was very specific "do nothing, except what the recall requires" (my baby has just come back from the great guys at Rotary Revs in Leeds). The next day the calls started..."you need this...you need that". No..No..No, I explain it has just come back from major work, I know for a fact those parts are brand new. Then "there's too much fuel in the tank". No...there isn't...it's below half, which is 5CM below where the sender mounts. So i say fine, syphon it. "OK, but we cannot hold it to put back in". Whatever, fine, just do it. When I go to pick it up, where's my car dude! They have no clue who I am, why I am there....UGGHHHH.
Painful does not even come close to describing interacting with Brayley's, for anything.
Please, please, please...for your own sanity...find another dealer!

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
Yep - the free dealer 'health check' which is largely an exercise in 'what do we think we can blag out of you'. Mine went there for the recall and I apparently needed to replace my drop links urgently, having just gone through an MOT a couple of weeks previously elsewhere, without even a mention.

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
oddly i had that done when i got some recall work done and they just said the rubber on one of my rear drop links was perished and had a small split in it. no push for them to do it and they were spot on with the diagnosis.Ainmhidh wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2020 3:52 pmYep - the free dealer 'health check' which is largely an exercise in 'what do we think we can blag out of you'. Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
Donalds Mazda- Bury St edmunds, Suffolk.
the first round of recall work i had done by them i was really pleased with. no issues, wouldnt have even known they had touched the car.
i took it recently for the passenger airbag and was not impressed. left dirty finger prints on the dash, scratched up my glovebox and broke a clip so the airbag connector caught on the glovebox when it was opened.
when i called them up to complain, they wanted the car back so i told them to swivel. she claimed as it was safety related, they need to check it was safe. i said they clearly didn't care before, and i am happy that it is now safe as i have done it myself and glued the clip back together.
i sent them pictures, but no reply as yet.

they gave a few escuses and claimed there "master technician" didnt damage the glovebox. they seemed a little quiet about them snapping the clip though!
i have been offered a repair on the glovebox, so i will see how that pans out. i have told them that i can bring them the repaired clip to locate a replacement as they are struggling.

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
I love it - on one service after charging me for a new air con filter and back axle oil plus labour their "Master Technician" hadn`t changed them as their storeman hadn`t supplied the parts to their "Master Technician"
I may be wrong but I guess that happened because it wasn`t their "Master Storeman"

I may be reading this wrong Del, but I get a sense you do not have much respect for Mazda Techs
To be fair, I'm sure there are some great Mazda Techs out there, it's just we hear about all the bad ones on here!

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
In answer to that I have used several I`ll even name them not necessarily in order of uselessness.
Trinity Mazda - Hinckley (now bust) (Dishonest and useless - repainted my corroded alloys and fitted them as new replacements)
Coventry Mazda (Couldn`t manage a simple service or a recall, damaged my car)
Leamington Mazda (file brake pads down and fit them the wrong way)
Johnsons Mazda - Solihull (didn`t replace the Air Con filter or axle oil but charged me)
Colliers Mazda - Erdington (put full synth oil in and wrecked my air filter housing)
Edwards Mazda - Worcester (couldn`t manage the fuel pump/air bag recall after having the car half a day)
Johnsons Mazda - Tamworth (WIP at the moment judgement reserved)
Jennings Mazda - Middlesborough (sold me a PZ that was damaged and covered in industrial fallout)
In fairness I have only been banned from Coventry Mazda!

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
Looks like we're close to assembling a 'do not use' list of dealerships! I suspect it would cover most of them.
I would add Donalds Mazda Ipswich (same group as the cr@p lot in Bury). They damaged my dashboard during the air bag recall and now I see it every time I use the car. Damn them, damn them to hell.

Re: Dealer Experience - whats yours like?
This what one of them did to 4 brand new warranty replacement alloys and as they had damaged them they decided they were not going to pay for more replacements so they thought it would be a good idea to respray just the fronts of my old alloys fit them and hope I wouldn`t notice.
And also as they had badly damaged the bead on one of my new Bridgestones it wouldn`t hold pressure so they thought it was a good idea to stick the tyre to the rim with rubber solution!
A Mazda dealer you really couldn`t trust to blow the tyres up let alone anything else!

Glovebox has been repaired and looks good as new.
Found the clip and sent it to me in the post.
Was a disappointing start, but they did persevere and sort it out in the end. Would rather have not had the hassle in the first place, but they did the right thing and sorted everything out.
I would still say over all that donalds mazda in bury are a decent garage to go to from my experience.
