Just had a strange one, that's never cropped-up before...

Renewing the cover for our Jeep, that happens to be in Pauline's name, with me as a named driver.

The cover is for up to 4k miles/year on the car, but the policy breaks that down as 3k for Pauline and 1k for me.

I know that insurance companies have been going hotter about "fronting", e.g. parents insuring their kids cars, with the kid as a named driver, but this is a new twist.

Both of us are minimum risk, for all the criteria that they apply, so it's not as if I'm a high risk driver trying to ride on her policy.

She has the Jeep and Skoda in her name, with me as named driver.
I have the RX-8 and the Alfa in mine, with her as named driver.

How do they intend to police it? (small "p")

Is this a step towards all cars having mandatory black boxes and drivers having embedded RFID chips to activate them?

My quote fluctuates on the daily, plus I think getting quotes a few weeks before the due date helps. This year at 47 years old my lowest quote was £173 fully comp for the year. Even I think that's too low.....

My Insurance this year £125 from Zenith, via MoneySupermarket. However, I went through Top Cashback with £32 cashback, so £93 net price for insurance for the year. The comparison sites are good, but I've only got started to use Top Cashback in the last six months and seems no drawback I can see, just savings, especially if buying what I was only going to buy anyway.
For the insurance, well I've been around five decades, my RX-8 is kept in a garage and low mileage, so all that helps.

With the cashback I've found that sometimes the quote are higher to take into account the cashback you gain.

I always check without the cashback, then search with the cashback app

My renewal letter for the M3 arrived today and SAGA are quoting £385.04 which is c25% more than last year so it’s search around time again.

First foray onto comparison sites has got the premium for the same level of cover down to £220 so unless SAGA perform a miracle then I will be changing companies.

I went with flow which is policy underwritten by LV so should be OK.

Buy more cars and put them on a single policy! I've only just discovered this. Added the RX to an Admiral multicar and it added 80quid but took 30quid off the other two. 3 cars 2 drivers on that policy at the moment...I think this is a good argument for additional cars for your better half!

So had the renewal for the GT86 from Chris Knott today and adjusted the mileage from 12k to 6k and it went down £50

So now £423.99

As this car is heavily modified, it's no good getting quotes from mainstream car insurance companies, so may just bite the bullet and pay out this amount
