Got my renewal quote through the other day - £3400 so rang up and they applied discounts and got it down to £2300 which just for ringing up and saying I'm leaving them, would save me a massive chunk but time for a car change anyway.
That was with no mods, 6000 miles a year and 2 years ncb + I'm 22 and speeding ban #-o

I wish I was 15 years younger, but about the only benefit of being mid forties is that I just insured my rx-8 for £180 with LV. It's garaged and limited mileage that helps as well. Obtained quote from moneysupermarket. Includes protected Ncd premium and my wife as named driver. Chuffed with that.

All RX8s have Thatcham Category 2. Link to the latest Thatcham list (RX8 bottom of page 11): http://www.thatcham.org/files/pdf/Consu ... y-2017.pdf

Mine is due for the first time soon so am gathering resources for the negotiation.

This is possibly the *only* fair renewal price I've ever heard of. I have been with the same insurer for 3 years on the bounce, but every year I have to cancel the policy and buy a new one - sodding idiots

Insurance Quotes

Post by GreySilver Beast »

A Plan contacted me via Email on the 15th Feb after my Insurance had renewed Automatically on the 14th Feb #-o ,he said he tried calling me on Monday Evening [13th Feb] which was a blatant lie :x as I was in all Evening :!: :!:

Needless to say I won't be calling them next year when my Insurance comes up for Renewal,as they have had enough chances to supply me a Quote in the last 2years :!:

Re: Insurance Quotes

You know something that I don't understand is why can't different insurance companies from different countries insure cars from different countries within the EU? For eg-Why can't a Spanish company insure my car here in Ireland assuming all the criteria which currently applies to my policy are applied?

I mean the EU is meant to be a single European market ( in theory ) so why is this not possible? It's something that's always vexed me.Surely If this was the situation it would be good for every consumer within the EU because more suppliers equals more competition equals cheaper insurance.

Yes I'm sure that there is legal ramifications to stop this happening and the cynic in me says that's exactly why they are there but it's about time the whole industry was opened up EU wide so that any EU citizen can get insurance from any company within the EU and not just from our respective countries of origin...

First year renewal came through from Sainsburys today. I'd extended my existing policy when swapping an MX5 for the R3. Sainsburys want £487. Fully comp for me and the Mrs including business use and kept in garage. 10k miles a year with K&N Air filter disclosed. Am 33 with 7 years NCD.

Called up Adrian Flux and after searching they wouldn't even give me their quote figure! They said it was miles higher than Sainsburys.

Going with quotemehappy.com for £303, they're an Aviva reseller. Offering a low excess and includes the standard extras like european cover and a courtesy car.

Insurers are crooks. My wife's car policy is set up to automatically renew. Fortunately each year a few days before it renews a letter with the premium hits our door mat. This year like every other the renewal premium is extortionately high. This year almost £2000. I call them query it, and after a final search, and application of a 'special discount' they quote a figure 50% less!!!
WTF! I wonder how many people just allow their policy to automatically renew?

And again, with my insurance this time. Large premium quoted on automatic renewal notification. I phone up and in seconds quote reduced by 20% to about what I expected.
As I said before NEVER let your policy automatically renew!!

I never let any insurance policy auto renew whether it's car, house or whatever. My car policy was €800 this year which was pretty much the same as last year ( fully comp ) not so bad considering most everyone else I know had nigh on 20-30 PC increases. Its just so frustrating that when you ring around the quotes you receive vary so wildly

Does anyone know if a 19yr old male with 2 years ncb can get a decent quote for the 231 model?

I can get a quote on the 192 for £800 with Aviva (which ill do if I can't get the 231).

Cheapest is £1600 with Admiral so far but that's too steep :(
Mazda won't even insure me

Does anyone have any recommendations?
PS: I've had no claims or anything

Considering your age and the car you want to be insured on, I think £1600 is a good price, assuming £250 voluntary excess. When I was young I had good prices from Bell but not sure what they're like now.

My renewal came through at £405. I tweaked my occupation slightly and got in down to £298 :) very happy with that. And surprised it changed so much from a slight occupation change. I have full ncb protected, no claims or convictions, 30yr old m.
