My quotes ranged from £1500-1800 for 4 years NCB 23yo male. Quite afew said no because I was under 25, and quite afew were interested to know what cars I've had preiously with regards to RWD!?? That seemed odd.

Anyhow got a great quote of £1130 from Performance Direct. This was only beaten by Sky Insurance at £1050 however they phoned me with this almost a week after I requested a quote and one day before I was due to buy the car. Abit slack in my opinion, particularly as during that void I phoned Sky again with my best quote- seeing if they'd get the hint... Shame that.

Just got the car and went with Admiral on the Multicar. My wife and I for £650 ish, the second car is a modified Saab 95 Aero Hot. Not bad when you consider I was paying £700 odd on the Saab alone!!!

£340 with admiral mulit car - for me and my boyfriend, were both 22, and our other car is an e30 bmw 325i which is £860 on its own!

plus we live in northern ireland which i think is a high risk area due to all the supposed invisible terrorists running up and down my street.

Bell may be your best shot (they were best price for me for a long time). Try Swift. Sky and Adrian Flux offer a club members discount if you join, but I'm not sure about your age with them.

Hopefully in the process of buying my first RX8.

So far the best quotes i can find are:

For a 192 on a 07 plate based on 4,000 miles per year = Esure £512.03
Same car including commuting, 15,000 miles per year = Privilege £621.16

(37 year old married male, 13 years NCD.)

Seems quite high, not sure it its becuase of my postcode area, DN3.

£929 from Swinton, who have been very good to me for the last 14 years, however,

£658 from Admiral.

Will have a short chat with Swinton tomorrow and ask for proof of NCB, I think.

If anyone needs a nice discount on their car insurance... there's a very sneaky way of getting an automatic discount.
If you who have a private pension through your company/workplace, its possible for you to get a hefty discount as long as that pension company has a car insurance division.
For example, I work for ABC company and we have Aviva as our company pensions scheme provider/manager. I was searching around for weeks looking for quotes on confused, elephant, web.. I was even contemplating going for XS insurance... an irish company that will insure you for dirt cheap regardless of your car/age/experience BUT will want a compulsory excess of £3000!!! lol
Well, anyway, I got on the phone to Aviva as someone mentioned to me they offer car insurance but don't turn up on comparison websites. After 20 minutes of going through my details etc etc etc.... I asked a simple question.. "would it be possible for me to qualify for some kind of discount if I have a pension with you as well"?.... the customer service girl went silent for a bit and then put me on hold. 2 minutes later she comes back and asks for my pension ref number..... on hold again. 5 minutes later my insurance quote was 25% cheaper. Sweeeet!

Give it a try....

For the first time ever I have had a renewal quote that is lower than any quote I can get online:

£420 Fully comp for me (51) with my wife (41) as a named driver.

Nationwide FTW :)

A lot of its going to be on your postcode and try and add a named female driver (even if she never uses the car)

Also try a few things .. mine was higher if I said it was garaged than if I said kept on the drive, if your in a union, pension scheme, trade association try and see if they have a deal with a particular insurance company.

A lot of people are on admiral multicar.

Anyone got any good ideas of who to try? About to purchase an 05 Grey 231ps, Im currently with post office and paying around £720 on a 2002 laguna 1.9dci! Post office have quoted me £912, Ive around six years no claims, 29 years old based in Belfast, they say they cant get me any cheaper as im midway through my current policy with them.

Would have to buy myself out but if I was getting a good deal in the long run Id definitley do that.

Shop around everywhere you can think of. Club members do get a discount with Sky and with Adrian Flux. I used to get reasonable prices with Bell ... the only way to do it is shop around as many different places as you can.

Ok, it's renewal time.

I'm 43 years old & have 15 years NCB. I live IG11 - which is London/Essex borders. Car's in a secure parking lot round the back of my house.
I've searched Money supermarket, GoCompare, Compare the thingymabob, Confused, Tesco search etc.

I can't get anything below £750 with my NCB protected!!!

Having read posts above, I'll ring Sky & Adrian Flux tomorrow.

I've been on the link re postcodes provided by Big Shag (I believe), but IG11 is shown as 'refer'.

Does the above price seem right? It's well steep in my point of view.

Any advice/pointers?

Thanks in advance!

Cyril
