I just sorted out my insurance on the Nemesis YA56 and the S1 RR54 with Adrian Flux and I am pleasantly surprised at the outcome. All mods valued at full replacement value and that is scary when you total them up!

Nemesis All mods declared (Mods value £3128) Agree value of whole car £5128 Premium £ 267

S1 RR54 All Mods declared (Mods Value £20000) Agreed value for whole car £22000 Premium £ 283.80

The worst thing about doing this of course is that now my "disposable if binned" RX-8 seems to have a significant value so will that slow me down?
Did that include any trackday cover?

No track day cover included, with track day cover it would be more than doubled. I will go adhoc with track cover. REIS won’t class my RX-8 as a sports car because it has 4 seats and 4 doors so as that miffed me I went searching elsewhere.

Insurance Quotes

Post by GreySilver Beast »

Out of curiosity I went onto Compare the Market to see how much it would cost to Insure the Mercedes-Benz C200K Elegance in my name and was pleasantly surprised with a quote of £537.34 based on 12,000 miles per year and mirrored to my existing PNCB on the GT86 :thumleft:

In time will contact Chris Knott who am insured with for the GT86 :thumleft:

I'd be having a word with AF for an explanation.

Yes Dave... I put in the same mods as last year the only big mod for this year is the gear Knob and the Rear Spoiler but the rear spoiler will not be ready for at least another 2 months and my new exhaust will be fitted at around the same time but all the rest of the small mods have been listed I think its the old run about send out a high quote then you ring up and they say leave it with us and see will see what we can do for you,.... but this time they will not get the opportunity I am just going to ask them for my 9+ years proof of no claims And go direct to L.V

Got the renewal quote for Mrs Smutty's mummy bus - £340. Popped onto Confused.com and came up with a like-for-like quote of £260. Probably the easiest decision I have had all day. So all four cars, including her bus which is registered for business mileage, for under a grand a year.

That’s interesting as last year they lost my business because they said the RX8 RR54 at under £5000 and having 4 doors did not meet their “sports car” criteria because it has 4 seats. I was actually only changing from T200 which had TD cover over to RR54.
Clearly whoever I spoke got it wrong even though I was on hold fir ages as they went and checked when I queried it.
I will approach them again when it comes to insuring RR54 with the SC fitted.

Didn't have to speak to anyone as its just a renewal, they just want pictures and price reference as ones for sale at that price! In all honesty if I added it all up based on mods and the cost of a base 40th it'd be a lot more but I'm happy with that as I've no intention of selling.

Renewed the Car Insurance with Chris Knott the other day as it's due on the 15th :thumleft:

Have cut the miles down from 18k to 12k per year, so the figure including all Mods was £446.00 plus I paid an additional £20 to protect the Insurance Excess =D> =D> =D> =D>

Didn't see any point shopping around at the moment seeing am buying a New Car soon to replace the GT86 and C200K :!:

I spoke to REIS again a couple of weeks ago and now RR54 has such an extensive mods list it apparently does qualify for their Sports Car scheme with 6 x Track Days so we shall see how that goes when I get it back together.
