Just been out for my first little fun run in my automatic and it's impossible to get it to "beep" other than 1st gear without breaking the speed limit. She beeps in 2nd at around 80 mph, didn't even attempt 3rd but my oh my what a rush!!! I had a BMW Z4 2.5SE for a couple of years and I loved the handling etc on that but this is a different ballpark altogether!
It s quite literally like it's on rails.... Very fast, very slick rails!
Love it!

Sat in a queue of traffic yesterday, a little lad walked round the corner with his mum and said at the top of his voice "what a cool car! When I grow up I want one!!" I looked up to see him looking at my car :D was still chuffed to bits hours later

Ever since it was released I had wanted one and this weekend I finally bought one. Since getting rid of my cbr600rr I havnt had so much of a rush. I even need to drive it like I rode the bike the way it goes through the gears. I bought it because I couldnt afford a real blade this year and I think itll satify me till next year! Or even beyond.

Hey guys, ive only recently started working out my exact MPG, due to a few recent problems its made me monitor the car more in different ways...
Anyway around town driving im getting 18 MPG poor but normal.
I was shocked when i started clocking motor way journeys - the cars getting over 30 MPG!
shes done 58k but had recent new tyres ignition system oil change

Turns out the rx8 isnt so terrible on fuel after all
i own the last Kuro ever made :)

Well chaps,
That's the first 1000 miles done in my flappy paddled flying machine! Having replaced the battery which solved my hot start issue, it's been just BRILLIANT.......I Love it!

I have to say that this is by a mile (pardon the pun) the best forum I've joined too, there is such a depth and breadth of knowledge available and guys, like all of you, that are willing to help (particularly fakedollar in my case!, thanks again Alex!!)
Sooooooo many GREAT ideas for little mods that even someone at my very limited technical level could do!!!

I went to CostCo to stock up on fags yesterday. As I got out of the car a couple were parking next to me and the passenger woman got out to move a shopping trolley out of the way. As she did it she had a look at the back of my car (no badges on the front of course 8) ) and said "Oh, Mazda - nice. I didn't know what it was. So if you leave the windows open do all the girls jump in?"

:-k ... I must remember to leave my windows open from now on clearly. :unibrow:

Was driving home today, stuck on the junction 27 roundabout waiting to get on the m1, when a 54 reg Hyundai Coupe SE 2.0 slowly pulled up next to me. The guy was almost falling out the window looking at my car, speaking to his misses in the car and pointing. Noticed I clocked him and he smiled, waved and said 'nice car pal!' Made my day it did! Used to own a coupe and wanted an rx8 and now the I got one!

it gets the most looks out of all the cars ive had, always catch people having a look when you drive past! it handles better than my old evo 6, and it cruises long distance very well, and the boot is bigger than you think it would be

I'd like to add that the car still surprises me with it's handling. Whenever I start losing the back end (which isn't too often!) I always manage to get it back to where I want it :)
To do list
  • Check engine mounts and diy recon if necessary.
  • PDR on vehicle due to car park idiots.
  • Repair/Recondition Alloys.

I would guess you haven't looked at such a catalogue for a while, Dan, they've now got stuff that makes the above look conventional. :unibrow:

Nice thread this one. Funny thing about the comments, I get more for this than I ever did for my S2000. Wonder why.

Anyway, I am perversely rather loving the peculiarity of it. Its currently in the garage being slowly resurrected back to perfect (I need a new bootlid they've found) and I'm actually enjoying the fun of bit by bit improving and restoring it.

On the road, I adore it. Not too dissimilar to the S2000 in many ways either, and every bit as quick. Which I'm not actually sure it's meant to be.

mines nearly done 91000 miles sometimes starts straight away when hot sometimes takes 2 or 3 turns but when it does it ticks over perfect and runs perfect as well probly not as quick as it once was but there you go I take it easy with her now shes getting on a bit lol but I go all over the place in it to work Scotland Cumbria from blackpool and its never let me down even with the hot start issue fingers crossed

I love my rex! Blasting up the lancs, spinning the wheels between 1st and 2nd then 2nd to 3rd as I have the road to myself. The cracking and popping on the over run and then easy sideways action from roundabouts. This is not a slow car. Then at work kids drooling over it.

Sohn adapter and premix mean I'm not worried about compression and it hot starts as quick as it cold starts.

I smile every time I look at my rx8.

Cracking drive. Shifts too, razzed it in 3rd today to overtake a lorry, numbers shoot up if you drive it hard.
