Alloy refurb in Berkshire

Post by YellowFish »

Hi,

Alloys are in dire need of a refurb with chips and corrosion rife and now my tyres are spent it's an ideal time to get the R3 some tasty bronze rims. Does anyone have recommendations for places to get alloys refurbed around Berkshire, I've been looking around and struggling to find the same value as a round trip to Birmingham to city wheels but would prefer local if the price is reasonable.

"Cheap" isn't always a good idea, even if the finish looks good, as this can happen, a couple of months later...

I have always used platinum alloys (formerly Jepsons) in Swindon with high praise. A bit outside Berkshire granted but maybe closer than Birmingham.

The guys at AutoAlex use one close to reading that seem to do a good job. I've seen them in a few episodes but not sponsored etc. Can't remember name though....

Thanks, and I agree about going too cheap, city wheels seems very cheap but equally has had some good reviews from here with repeat custom and a mate has also used them. I'll check out platinum, swindons not too far and I'd forgot the auto Alex ones. Has anyone got and thoughts on three sixty alloys in Reading or WheelWorkz in Maidenhead?

I use Wheelworkz , they’re decent. If you do come over for a comp test there’s plenty of examples of their work to see :)

They did the bronze for me on what is now Arthur’s R3 , the one at £12500 on eBay

Sweet, that might be all the endorsement required for WheelWorkz, they looked like they did good work and whilst you can't really judge think kind of company by their online presence, the website isn't great. Seeing such a good example of bronze on black was part of kicking me into finally getting them refurbed!
