Drove up to Bobs to use his ramp but only went a week early! He had called me yesterday asking if I was good for Friday night so he could book the table. I didn’t check the calendar, just jumped in the car and set off. Needless to say he was surprised to receive my ETA 12:30 message!
It was a beautiful day for the drive up and scenery after Shrewsbury just get better and better. I decided to avoid the Friday motorway traffic and came home on the A&B roads which provide loads of rapid twisties and not much traffic.
I made the trip there and back on one tank at an average of 18.5mpg.
Not a cheap mistake to make though as the top up tonight cost £108:13!!!!!!!!!

It's about 10.000 miles since her Respray and she is just starting to show signs of wear in a few places a few blemishes and scratches from the engine install, even with the care and attention she has It's inevitable I suppose, especially as she is not a garage queen.
So another fresh coat of paint will be budgeted for.

Anglesey Autofest on Sunday, be rude not to make an appearance. 👍
I was going to go to that but im at Dans on the Sat which means my Car show tolerance with the mrs is used up for the weekend 😂

That's not too bad mpg wise over stock considering the extra power on tap

A couple of important bits for my supercharged project have arrived :)

Took my mother today to Sleap aerodrome for a spin. We were half way round when it suddenly dawned on me, this is the second time i have driven this in a rotary, the first being in my dads rx3 when i was about 12. He sold it later for about 400 quid, if only i had known.

Fitted some Megan RS Brembo callipers with DBA T3 discs so had to take a nice little drive after to start the bedding in process. Too early to comment on performance but they do look bloody good!

Lovely looking discs, with the "Aussie Paw" internal cooling as well. Do let us know how you get on with them.

Yeah they are a great disc and very well made. Will be a good while till they are truly tested but expect them to deal with anything thrown at them.

Was this a freakyparts kit? I have the same calipers sat in the garage awaiting discs, pads and an adapter kit

No, I pieced it together. Adaptors are from a company in Poland and I deal with DBA directly, one of the only top end oe discs available for the 8.

With these kits they have been running with CX5 discs I think they are, slightly wider but 320mm dia. Instead of the 323mm standard. I have used the 8 size discs which still will work absolutely fine but a lot more options.

Went to Anglesey Autofest today, what a shambles.
3 portaloos for a couple of thousand people at least, one ice cream van, and one burger van, no-one organising traffic which meant ques to get in over 2 miles long in every direction, caused by the fact that the site has in effect just a single track road with passing places.
Tickets in advance so they must have known roughly how many numbers to expect it really was a shambles I'll be asking for my money back.

It was clearly over advertised. I will now never go ever go again to anything at Anglesey circuit. Scratches all down the side of the merc from trying to get out past all the overgrown thorn bushes on the single track road. Terrible. Once you find where to complain, let me know and ill add one aswell. By far the worst show and experience getting in and out ive ever seen. I am not sure how any part of it could have been worst. 1 and a half hours to get in, 30 min walk around of cars normally at the local cars and coffee, 1 hour to get back out.

Tried and failed to get the corrosion off the exhaust using autosol. Tried and failed to fit the new exhaust trims I ordered from JDM planet and ended up breaking both of them. I'm f🤬ing furious at myself. No elbow grease, no aptitude for mechanics whatsoever. Think I'll get rid of it.

Also rang rotary revs yesterday to book in for service, minimap and asked about rust proofing. They don't do rustproofing anymore. Sounds like rx8s are a fly in their ear now compared to their Mustangs 🤬

I sent an email to krown yesterday morning and got a quote back in the evening after my breakdown with the exhaust trims. Even if I had a heat gun for the original ones I probably damaged them while removing. Need to source more trims as it looks ridiculous now.
