Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Been camping the past few days in the lakes and surprised how much actually fitted in the car however it might have been a bit to heavy as the TC was coming on a lot especially on C roads under braking and the handbrake had a moment on a steep incline where it couldn't keep the car from rolling back. The campsite owners use to have an RX7 think it was an FD but gave it away after it's 3rd rebuild :O so we ended up having had a good rotary chat

How high does your handbrake lever come up?
It shouldn't be more than 3-4 clicks.
Excess slack can be adjusted via the little removable hatch in the centre console cubbie, using a deep ¼" drive 10mm socket on a short extension.
Be warned that it's very easy to catch the socket on the way out, as I've found three "lost" 10mm sockets when removing the console on member's cars

After just 2 months of ownership I have driven her to the Ring for a bit of fun, run great all the way 300 miles with just under a quarter of a tank left, that will change once on the ring, lol

Just dropped it off at Rotary Revs for the Big Job™
Also, the other day I finished fitting the black interior I'd acquired a couple months back:
...one day the seats will get refurbed and recovered to match.

I do like the R3 front seats
, a shame they lost the triangle detail from the previous model though.
The black interior looks classy

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
Well, I continued the disassembly and familiarisation with my engine bay which, while great fun, had some unexpected results.
Tell me, are a handful of hazelnuts beneath all the fuses IN the tray, a factory feature? I'm not an electrician, but I don't recall ever seeing them in any of the wiring diagrams in the other car.
Other than that drained out the coolant and smelt copper and there were loads of particles at the bottom, so I'm really hoping none of you will correct me when I say it's just from the radiator? It was sitting for a couple years before I bought it.

If you have hazel nuts in the fuse box then the cabin air filter should be interesting...

Re: What have you done to your RX-8 today????
I'm starting to dread what I'll find. I'll be honest, what's bugging me most is the jokes would usually write themselves finding a stash of nuts anywhere in a car, but the fusebox has me a little stumped.
Thanks for advice about the copper folks. I bought the car with a ?waterjacket leak, so it would figure they tried a suicidal DIY before selling. Well, it's all gotta come apart anyway, I'll just flush a couple extra times

Had mine remapped by Carl @ RRP yesterday. Goes really well and a good consistent pull through the full rev range
