Got my service and warranty stamp at Hurleys, on Saturday I visited Will and swapped his rear pads, they were a matter of miles away from causing sparks, but all evenly worn.

It was only a little rattle, but really annoying...Image. Turned out to the the plastic cover off the -ve terminal of the battery, I found it hiding under the air box holder thing.

Just fitted my Parrot Hands Free kit. Fortunately the 10mm bolt had already been removed from the side of the radio. All up and running ok, iPod a bit loud, though there looks to be some manual volume controls that may deal with that. Bluetooth all ok. Just need to modify the ashtray to fit the screen, and put all the bits back in, and I'm done.

Had the EBC brake lines fitted today. The brakes are much more responsive, although that's probably mostly due to the new brake fluid. Happy with the result either way. Ready tomorrow for the gear box and diff oil changes.

I kerbed at wheel! They'd been pristine since I had them refurbed in October 2019. But I caught a low kerb in QPark Chinatown. One of those annoying situations where the ramps between car park levels are very tight and there's a low kerb inside to make it even more narrow.

Whenever I go there the car stands out. It's all brand new Porsches and Range Rovers and I roll in with an old cheap Mazda

FTFY ;)

Blimey, you've done really well to keep them that pristine. Mine were a bit scuffed when I got them, but I've done one big kerbing on the rear left. Went up a dropped kerb on a really narrow tight left turn where there was a car the other side as I'd already started the turn when they popped up, didn't know it went up the dropped kerb on the corner so I didn't aim for the dropped section further up and scarred a good quarter of my wheel when it came back down on high part :^o

I changed the engine oil and filter today. I went to the dealer to collect the filter and sump washer. They told me that the last person to buy one from them was... me! Last year.

DSC_0097.JPG

Also noticed that my diff is weeping from the drain hole.

DSC_0103.JPG

I didn't have time to fiddle with it, but I'm hoping that it's just loose and not cracked. So will attempt to tighten and then drain and refill, assuming it's leaked an amount of fluid.

Does anyone know the part numbers for the crush washers on the diff fill and drain plugs? And the part number for a new diff drain plug? I may as well order one just in case.

Really? Damn. I wonder if it's uncommon for people to go in and actually buy stuff from them. I swear i've been at my local dealer like, most weeks now ordering little bits here and there and now sorting the R3 badges ha!

Thread here for washers.

Just pulled from the 2009 Mazda parts thingy online for the US sites, and it's come back with 9951-11-800 for the drain plug and 9956-41-800 for the crush washer which should be valid part no's, but worth a check with the dealer if you're getting them from there ;)

Not dead,
The guy I bought it off has a s1 just sitting there not doing anything, he also has a silver R3 in really good condition, which is his daily, and he bought another R3 to build as a drift car, he's doing a v8 conversion!
I told him he should join the forum.

Gave it an oil & filter change... 6 months overdue 😬 but only 5k miles so not so bad (or at least that's how I'm justifying it). Was dreading the oil filter, but the old leather belt strap wrench technique worked a charm! But why oh why did mazda mount it facing down‽ so bloody stupid 😂
