Hello all, and apologies for skipping an intro post and jumping straight into questions - when I get some time ill put up a post. I've just bought an 04 s1 192ps model, looks like it belonged to a club member as the keyring came with it.
Anyway one of the first things I need to do is get some for of aux input into the stereo (fw 9.67 so I'm good there), but it looks like I might already have some things installed.
Does the wiring in these photos looks familiar? Obv the cut wires are no use to me, but curious what it could have been.
Looks like part of a aux or hands free kit? (jack is smaller than 3.5mm though)
Is this the remains of a parrot kit or something like that?
Does anyone recognise these cables (stereo)?

Looks a bit like somebody yoinked a MOLEX->PCIe 12v adaptor and used that for something? How odd. The 2.5mm audio jack is an oddity too but it looks like some small hands free items use it. Good luck with your car archaeology!

That looks a lot like the connector from a Parrot BT system. Look like someone couldn't be arsed to remove it properly and just cut the cables to the screen and unplugged the blue box.

Cool, I'll run with my original assumption that there's nothing usable there and get a Bluetooth aux kit for it.

Have you checked the firmware level of the head unit?

I think the Grom Bt3 will suit my needs perfectly, then eventually I'll look at putting a tablet in the nav hood and Bluetooth that (rather than aux) to the grom so that the steering controls remain. I'll tether the tablet to my phone.
I wonder if the nexus 7 tabs still even work

Found another mystery cable while plugging in the obd reader:
