Parts through the post

Post by warpc0il » Fri Feb 10, 2012 2:52 pm

I've recently bought some parts from T W Whites at Orpington and the process was very smooth.

Martyn Sears is the Parts guy and he is very helpful, happy to do some digging to ensure the correct part is being requested, checking price and availability and, if necessary, pulling the part from Mazda UK without requiring a deposit. All prices include 10% RX8 Owners Club discount if you provide your membership details.

Once the part is in (normally 2 working days) he calls back to confirm, takes the creditcard details and puts it in the post 1st Class.

As I was just ordering a replacement cabin filter cover today, we had a chat about the process and he confirmed that "small parts" are sent out with no charge for P&P, while larger items would be sent TNT and charged at cost.

Given Martyns helpful attitude, parts knowledge and the above process, I have no hesitation in recommending his services to Members anywhere in the country.

The official number for the Orpington Part dept. is 0844 649 3563,
though you could try 0168 983 1637 if 08nn numbers aren't included in your call plan.

A quick search shows that Martyn has also had good reviews from other members

It's about £12, Martyn will confirm on Tuesday.

The original part, fitted to cars with VIN numbers upto ....040805, was too brittle and the locking tabs break off.

The latter S1 cars and the R3 were fitted with a modified part which is meant to be much better.

Original part # F151-61-D25, updated part # F151-61-D25A, that's what Martyn is getting in for me.

I'll take some pics and do a quick write-up when mine arrives.

Excellent, much appreciated.
I was quite shocked at how easily mine snapped. My car is an 07 plate so they must have been modified after that?. Mine is now held on temporarily with duct tape!

Check your VIN, is it lower or higher than ...040805?

Yes, though it could have been made more brittle by the cold.

Pop the cabin filters out, take a look at them and smell the surface.

If they're nasty then get some replacements - I use [urlw=http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400277040486]these as they are active carbon and kill smells[/urlw]

If yours aren't too bad then give them a spray with [urlw=http://www.febreze.co.uk/fabric_care.htm]Fabreze[/urlw] and put them back in.

By the way, just to confirm, Martyn Sears is still there, extremely helpful and sourced everything I needed. From phoning to getting the goods - a couple of days. Excellent service, thanks, Martyn!

Posting in this thread since I have had a few parts through the post recently and thought it best to give an update, especially for newer members info.

Martyn is still there and still offering the usual very high standard of service :thumleft:

If you don't know a part number, or even know what part you require then Martyn is very helpful and happy to assist via phone or email.
I wouldn't go anywhere else for OEM parts.
