COME ON THE R3's
I know what Marc went for and it wasn't PZ Suspension
, so he shouldn't have any trouble on the track Dave and Ian

Re: COME ON THE R3's
Adjustability, you're saying that dropping a car that low may cause issues whilst on track, surely by adjusting the height you can negate said issues to a certain extent?

Re: COME ON THE R3's
If you have adjustable coilovers and if you take the time to re-adjust them, and the potentially camber settings, for the track, then sure they'll be fine and, if they're good quality coilovesr then they'll be more than fine.
What I was saying was that a car sitting with that stance isn't going to work well on the track.

Re: COME ON THE R3's
That's a slightly redundant statement without knowing what the car is running in any way, shape or form...
It's like saying putting nitrous in to a car without adjusting the handling will make it slower on track. It may or may not be factual, but alone it's not a helpful statement.
My R3 is on lowering springs, coupled with up-rated strut braces front and back and some RB ARBs. It most certainly doesn't lift an inside wheel or spear off in to the boonies as you say. It most definitely is quicker on a smooth track than a stock R3 on the same tyres and isn't purely for style...

Re: COME ON THE R3's
Which is why I said "Lowering to that level" rather than just "Lowering".
I'm sure that you car isn't on the deck and has sufficient remaining suspension movement to get the benefit on a smooth track.

Re: COME ON THE R3's
Mine's about the same as Marc's from what I can see. It's not that low to be honest and I'd expect it to handle quite well (assuming supporting modifications and/ or setup) on a track...
It's not like it's been stanced on 'bags or anything completely stupid.

Re: COME ON THE R3's
Looking at photos, taken at different angles, isn't an exact science and it looks to me that the silver R3 is lower than yours.
Let's just agree that there is a point where lowering a car crosses the line and handling benefits, even on a smooth track, become compromised.
Yours is above the line, while Mpv2k3's, if it's as low as it looks to me, is close or potentially over the line.
However, as kopite has also pointed out, if it's on adjustable coilovers, then it could also be reset for better handling as appropriate.

Re: COME ON THE R3's
I still don't think so, sorry Dave. If you're talking about splatting it on the deck with a set of bags resting on the bump stop then yeah, but we're not talking about that. Even if Marc's R3 is sat on lowering springs without much else being done I'd expect it to be OK - this is speaking from experience as my car was running just springs when I first got it and I've added the other bits myself.
Also don't forget that the R3 has 19" wheels, which fill the arches more, and make an 8 look lower than it would on a set of 18s (which Marc runs on track). All these things mean that, bluntly, I don't think you're right, regardless of if it's coilovers or lowering springs.
In this case Marc is running coilies AFAIK, and based on what I know of Marc and his car he'll have had the work done properly and set up correctly.

Re: COME ON THE R3's
Marc's isn't that low, the 19s and the side skirts make it look lower but there is a decent arch gap and cars still pretty high off the ground, I'd be happy to bet that the suspension arms will be level, you get problems when you start to have the arms pointing upwards

Re: COME ON THE R3's
I don't agree, I'd be willing to bet she's dropped by at least 30mil. There's minimal arch gap, in fact you'd be hard pushed to get a finger between the top of the tyre and the arch.
Marc correct me if I'm wrong here but aren't you running electronic adaptive suspension? If that's the case you can set her up at the touch of a button from the steering wheel, nooooooice

Re: COME ON THE R3's

I can't fit my fingers between the rear wheel and the wheel arch - no problems with mine on track as said

Re: COME ON THE R3's
Marc parked his R3 next to our R3 last saturday and although lower it did not look ridiculously low.
In fact for some reason it looked lower in the photo.

I suggest we draw a line under this now. There's a lot of guesswork and speculation. And it's diluting the thread.
