They really were Sparkling Black
I just found a photo that I took last summer after a car clean. I think it's good example to show how much metal flake is in the Sparkling Black paint and of it sparkling nicely, which I don't think is often obvious from afar.

I'd assume you just used that to give the camera something to focus on 
My VFR is Raspberry Pearl Black, while Pauline's GPz is Purple Pearl Black.
They both just look Black in the shade, and wow in the sun.

Love a good metallic paint job. Our RX8 is Velocity Red and the Jag is a deep metallic blue, and it the sunlight after a clean they look stellar. Well, most of the panels do...
