Rotor housing advice?!

Post by jimbo1987 »

Hi I've just stripped my motor to find what I think is 2 useless rotor housings :( while breaking the engine I discovered 2 broken apex seals but luckily there wasn't any substantial scoring or gauges! But excessive flaking identical on both housings. I take it these are useless? Also why would the flaking be almost identical in both housings?? Bearing failure maybe?? They looked ok Image Image

They look like scrap to me. The guideline is any wear greater than 2mm from the edges consigns them to the bin. The left one particularly is really bad, the right doesn't look as bad but I think I can see similar wear by the leading plug hole. There's a lot of carbon there too, engine wasn't premixed, :)

Make sure you check the facing on the irons with a DTI, step wear isn't always obvious.

Machine mart or similar. They aren't expensive.
