How to use the Tape/Cassette player

Post by JamesChamberlain » Thu Apr 10, 2014 2:10 am

Does anyone know how to use the Tape/Cassette player ?

Ive looked online and i have not seen how.

I know where is it located but my on RX8 there is a cover over. (I know everyone else's does)
But i don't know how to open that I've tried from the bottom but it doest clip open or open much.

I Don't even use tapes or cassettes either its just i want to know how to haha. Please someone put me out of misery. Is there a switch or a trick to it i don't know

I'd be very surprised if you have the cassette player in there - GreySilver Beast had the last one available in the UK from Mazda put into his first RX-8, I don't think I have seen any others with one.

if it has a black plate, then there is nothing behind it, all the head units have a Tape/aux button

Yep its just a blank plate as the option was never fitted to the car. If you had the tape deck/ mini disc it would be visible.

The MD is bonifidie Awesomeness!

The Tech just "fits" with the RX Both are just the right time the end of a technological era! all the music is from the late 90s and early to mid 2000s on minidisc and the tech whilst flawed is vastly superior to the available alternative like a rotary!

You can play MDLP through it with a noticable quality loss but on the other end of the spectrum it can handle MDHQ which when recorded at the appropriate end of the spectrum is just phenomenal the Bose system truly shines :)

My only criticism of the system is the look once installed makes the dash look very fussy.

Image

Also its a complete PITA to fit as you have to TOTALLY strip the headunit removing the front fascia and everything even someone like myself who can strip out a headunit in about 5 minutes Had to spend a good hour stripping and rebuilding the unit itself as it pretty much has to be stripped to component level to fit the MiniDisc unit.

I no longer work for Apex and cannot under any circumstances recommend anyone use their services for anything.......ever......

I know it took Godfreys almost the whole day to fit my Tape Deck to the GreySilver Beast  & there Electronics Tech Guy was cursing it left right & centre when trying to fit it

Although it was a fantastic bit of Kit once fitted & meant I could play my selection of Tapes :P ,that I still have now but nowhere to play them :(
