RX8 Service Notice To Be Used Whilst Car Is Undergoing Work

Post by VelocityVinnie »

Right, in light of my recent trip to Mazda for body work, and the possibility of them flooding my car, and trying to cover up and lie about it!!

I have created a little Service notice which i am now going to stick on the steering wheel everytime the Rex goes anywhere for work or service!

I have decided that all of us could do with one of these notices, to protect our cars from tw$ts!

I have put the image on my Photobucket, for all to download and use.

I have printed it onto glossy photo paper and laminated it, the image is a 10x8 so it fits nicely in the glove box!

Maybe this notice cold be put somewhere for everybody to access it? Hints and tips maybe?

If everybody downloads and uses these at various places, maybe we can start to educate those who dont know our cars and engines! and save us the hassle of non self inflicted repairs and damage!!

Mods put where you like!

I can also alter the image if peeps have any ideas to what the text reads!

Good idea. I really could have used something like this last time my car was in for bodywork repair.

=D> Good idea. I would add "with no throttle" to the starting instructions and you may want to amend the spelling of "Temperature".

In light of your recent experiences, it might be appropriate to add reminders to reset DSC if the battery has been disconnected.

Great idea BTW and I will be using this myself.

I think the "no throttle" bit is unnecessary because its an electronic throttle. So if you push it when the engine is off, it won't inject any fuel... at least thats the way I think it is.

Its a specific instruction not to apply any throttle during the starting procdure.

Yes if you apply the throttle whislt starting it will inject extra fuel into the cold engine, and if the car doesnt start first time, it greatly increases the risk of flooding

I have done that too so far. I will even be staying with it during it's service at Hurley Rotary- and these of all people should know the do's and don'ts of shutting the engine down.

I did a bit of research and found out that pressing the accelerator pedal whilst turning the key indicates to the ECU you are preforming the de-flooding procedure, and it does not supply fuel to the engine while cranking. So you won't increase a chance of flooding doin this... but obviously you still dont want to be touching the accelerator when starting the car unless you are actually trying to deflood your engine. So I think I am right and wrong at the same time!

RX8 Service Notice To Be Used If Your Car Is Going For Work!

Post by VelocityVinnie »

Your right and wrong, the ECU will only think this if the throttle is fully open (foot to floor), if you start with partial throttle like on a normal engine it will inject more fuel.

Hense why you should not crank the engine with any throttle at all.

Dear Mods!, do you think this service notice could be placed somewhere where its always on hand? as it will soon slide down the depths of the forum.

Piece of mind when leaving your car with a garage or friend

Post by Lygase »

My car is going in to get my windows tinted next week, and i dont want them to flood it, so i whipped this together, it's very crude but should do the job, i just printed it out on 2 pieces of card, and stuck them together back to back and will hang it on my rear view mirror, so there'll be no excuses for flooding etc :!:

just 'save as' and print, then chop it out and hang it in the mirror when ever you leave the car somewhere or with someone who doesn't know how to start/stop them :)
