So Ian,when my 8 is Serviced in November would it be adviseable to ask them to check the Engine Mounts as well :?:

Note - typically it is the right hand mount that goes.

The new mounts are revised with reference to withstanding heat.

Mazda only paid 15% to mine, costing me £320. Too tired to fight then again over another issue that should not be present in a 4.5 year old car with 40k.....

Cheers guys for this really helpful info.

Been having some vibration problems myself after a collision with a kerb and found this post. See pics below - my driver's side has definitely packed in but should I bother getting the passenger side replaced too? It looks off-center but doesn't look too bad.

How long should it take the dealer to replace each mount?

Not too surprising - that's the hotter side of the engine.

Drivers typically goes first as it is near the cat, I would replace both, although if you only do one I am not sure if it has any repercussions.

This is getting confusing now:
1.what is the part number for the uprated engine mounts for manual transmission?
2. Do I need to install the uprated engine mount bracket?

here some more confusing info:

I dont have an idle shudder as such, but if I blip the throttle on startup to about 2.5k there is a huge shudder.. clutch in and out doesnt make a huge difference. Could this be the engine mounts?

You can get an OEM one imported from the states for £85-ish iirc.
Pete.
Sold up, but did have fun with a 192, leather, sat-nav, crest, strakes, grilles, Toyo 'zorst, 6 speed 'box, anthracite wheels, bonnet struts, K&N, debadged boot.

No pistons or boobies, but still expensive.....

Can any competent garage replace the engine mounts or is it best to get Mazda to replace the mounts? I would supply them with the mounts myself but I am sick to death of rip off prices for poor quality dealership work.

Had my dealer take a look at the mounts during some other work and they are adamant I'd be wasting my money replacing the driver side mount.

Just to add to this thread, I've just done mine, from jack under to jack out it took just under 50 minutes, I wasn't working 'against the clock' I just happened to note the time I started!

I WD40'd the two main mounting bolts 3 days ago and they came off easily enough, I also unbolted the 12mm bolt holding the brake hose to the upper suspension arm to drop the hose out the way as I found this made access to the front mounting nut easier.
