I replaced the 18" passenger side wiper today.

Visited the local Halfords first - £8.49 for their own brand wiper :(.

Mazda dealer - under £7.00 inc. VAT, and they fitted it for free :).

So don't automatically assume the dealer will charge the earth compared to Halfords etc.

Yep :). I've thrown away the receipt but I paid £6 something total for the passenger side wiper. Perhaps the price you were quoted included the wiper arm too or something like that?

^^^^^^

Just found the receipt.

The part is described as N/STK WIPER BLADE T85212-YZZAJ

Cost was £5.69 + VAT = £6.69

See what your dealer makes of that!

Druck, thanks for the tip with Autobulbs. Got some of the aero blades as well, and fitted them today.
I have noticed that the aero flip is on backwards, made for Left-hand drive cars I guess, and these blades can't be put on upside down like normal blades, but still look great. (I used to design wiper systems, so I noticed this!)

P.S. I know the car needs a good wash!!

Those look slightly different than the ones me and maybe druck have.

mines don't have a front/back sort of spoiler, it is just a fin running down the middle along the length of the wiper. Mines also look less refined where the wiper arm is attached.
I sold the RX-8, I got a Volvo.

What's wrong with me?! :-(

RX8 wiper blades complete with spoiler for drivers side and one 18" and one 20" in the same box from Lidl's at £3.99 the pair, manufactured ion Germany.

Look excellent quality but only time will tell. As is usual with Lidl these will only be available this week.
Now a distant memory unfortunately.

Just ordered me some new wiper blades. Went for the Trupart TV45R/TV50R from wiperblades.co.uk, they are of the flat blade upgrade variety so we shall see how they are.

Likewise. Mine still have a tendancy to 'slip' out of the main position, and require re-seating once in a while. I'm not 100% convinced I have fitted them correctly?

Recently had three year service and first MOT done at local dealer. The only thing it failed on was the wipers so when they phoned to let me know and to avoid having to take that car back I told them to replace the wipers for me. It wasn't until I git the bill that I realised my mistake........

£25 for new wipers, £23 fitment! :swear: How can they justify £23 for a 1 minute job? When I queried it I was told that it was the minimum charge for any work and the fact that I had just spent £400+ on the service and MOT was irrelevant.

Don't think I will be going back to JCT600 Leeds any time soon :x

I was caught out like this once with a previous car. It was in for service, they phoned to say the fanbelt was loose so I asked them to tighten it (would have taken 2 mins max) and was charged for 15 minutes labour as that was the minimum labour charge. It always pays to ask them what the total cost will be.

Have some occasional problems with these Aerotwin style wipers now.

Since they are now a few months old, they might have lost their elasticity a bit.

Above 120mph (on private land) the driver's side tends to flap a bit when in use.

I will recommend the new owner replaces them for the standard Bosch stuff next time round.

Where's the best (cheapest) place to buy the Bosch wipers? I don't fancy paying £18 each or whatever it was I saw them for in Halfords.
