It's more that the club must have 7 committee members, as per the constitution.

Otherwise I'd have stood down.
I am sure that an EAGM could have ratified a proposed change to the constituent to do away with the CIC position and with the forthcoming AGM such a change could be effected to relieve you of the burden if necessary Fan due to your health situation and family commitments.

Ok this is getting ridiculous now

Would the club crumble with a CIC? Maybe not immediately but it would be the start of it. It would however require an immediate new constitution/position as the club currently has to have 7 members on the committee to function

Yet again, and I don't know how many times it needs said, we are all volunteers with busy lives. We all do what we can, when we can, and Dan is no exception. Considering the 💩 show some of the committee where left with by previous incumbents (I'm definitely an exception because Malcolm as we all know is a legend) they are doing an outstanding job. The constant jabs from a tiny number of members is getting boring now. If you could do a better job VOLUNTEER TO DO IT!!!! Oh wait, those people say they don't have the time/capability/willingness, just want to complain when we say we don't have the time to do everything they want 🙄

I'm starting to feel like a broken record and I've had enough of it. I shouldn't have to spend so much time defending our amazing volunteers. Unless you have previously held a role within the club SUCCESSFULLY or have something genuinly constructive to say that would help, stop taking digs at us
FYI:
Below is a message I received today from an ex club member copied and pasted word for word.
Just wanted to say bravo for challenging the status quo in the AGM.
Very hypocritical for them to say people should volunteer after your intention to run for Chairman which they effectively sabotaged. It reinforced that they've turned it into a weird clique/cult and the voting process is just for show. That put me off ever running.

You need an odd number of Committee members for voting purposes.

Getting rid of the CIC role would also make the issue worse, as no one would be updating the Club Facebook Page.

It could have, but it would have had wider more complex implications as the club needs an odd number of committee members.

Seemed easier to leave it be with me doing minimal beyond attendance at most committee meetings and doing what I can.

Thats enough gents.....

The chairman position is next up for renewal, as it happens. The club will welcome any volunteers for the election process.

The voting process is not for show, and all members get an equal say through a secure voting system.

Here we go again. The evil committee stopped Chris being chairman

Oh wait, it was an almost entirely different committee when you volunteered and then decided against it, I believe for health issues? So who is it being accused here? John, Malcolm, Nigel, Ian, Alan, Nigel and Ollie or just another ridiculous attack on Dan, who obviously had full control over all committee ongoings at that time

What exactly are you being applauded for? Demanding a breakdown of what we do in our own time? Telling Dan how to do a role that you yourself failed at?

If the ex member wants to come forward and tell me why i'm a hypocrite I'd love to hear it, or is it just a mud flinging exercise with no explanation? It can't be because I made you stand down from the chairman election as I wasn't on the committee then and had zero involvement in the thread, although that's what's being implied. I don't appreciate being called a hypocrite by someone not brave enough to say it to me directly/ publicly

I meant more that people have sent enough negative feedback on yourself that we choose not to share, as it wouldn't be appropriate.

Ultimately, though, I feel as though way too many people see volunteering for a committee role as a job, and as such should command a significant chunk of your time in the same way employment would.

That isn't how I see it, and if I'm the one that is wrong, anyone who wishes to take over from me can drop me a PM and I'd happily chat about what the role looks like, and gladly step aside.

Agreed Drew, perhaps more than enough for some of us. I too am tired of these exchanges and decided not to attend the AGM as I feel it would be pointless.
Christine, please feel free to not include my suggested discussion points on the AGM agenda of leave them for discussion as you see fit, I wont be there to present them.

We can all do without the inevitable aggravation Dan. Best to just let you all get on with doing what you do and not dare criticise in any way, shape or form as it’s clearly not allowed.

WOW.... that is some quake I started! I don't know where the epicentre is or how much it would register on the Richter Scale, but the wine glasses have been rattling in our glass cabinet all day long! :D :D

Drew I've checked the definition of the Club Chairman and no where does it mention molly coddling! If a member wants to post an event, rather than put unnecessary pressure on the volunteering committee, take a leaf from my book........

When I joined the club in 2021 I setup a Facebook page to run in tandem with using the Forum. The Facebook page is a spur from my wife's dormant Fb page, I've done this a couple of times before with music projects I was involved in, I don't actually have a Fb account of my own.

Any Fb page is what you make it, I have no "fakebook" friends, no holiday pictures, none of family or grandchildren, it is just a very handy tool to be used in conjunction with the Forum. I mean what use is a bag of nails without a hammer? I find Fb is easy to get info out and received, far quicker than foraging around the Forum! Check out my page Derek A Harrington. Maybe those organising an event, may well have amongst them someone on Fb?

Yes I am now retired, but my time is filled with helping look after 3 grandchildren under 5, I'm involved very much in playing music and running a monthly session, I've also got numerous projects at home that I can now get on with after running my own company for over 30 years.

Having said all that, I'm happy to post any club events on Fb, just PM me.

Having read and digested all of the above, allow me to post my interpretation of it.
As a paid member of the RX8OC, the forum is my first port of call for any and all information regarding RX8OC events, notices, announcements etc,
and should appear here before being linked to any other media sites.
As an example, i am a fully paid up forum only browser, always looking for the latest info on RX8OC activity.
In contrast, my son who is fully familiar with all the other media sources and never on the RX8OC forum often knows more of RX8OC activity than i do, how can this be?
In my humble opinion, all other media sites should be satellites to the RX8OC forum, with an easily found link to them clearly found on here which it isn't currently, i would also like to thank those who manage other media sites for linking the RX8OC forum to their sites.
As an avid history buff, i can link all this to the Chain Home procedure adopted during WW2. The radars are the events and media teams collecting information on activity, the Central hub is the RX8OC forum where the data is distributed to the relevant recipients and the Fighter Squadrons are the RX8OC members who can then make the best use of the data provided.
