Re: AGM 2024 - BMM Sunday 19th May
Thanks Rob, which is exactly what I/we are attempting to do. As pointed out, I was successfully doing this previously when on fb, including advertising on robs behalf, however I no longer use that platform or other social media ones, nor do I have the software on my phone to make a "fake" profile such as Derek suggested for use for various reasons. The overall aim and consensus is the same between us all, we now just need a collaborative and constructive way to bring it to fruition. I personally like structure and single poc for events publicised and prevent missed items, clearly others like Derek believe in the theory of everyone and anyone doing it as and when or responsible for their own events. Which as I pointed out and reinforced by Rob, not everyone has the media platforms to push out. Hence, someone taking ownership of coordination would likely be the most successful method of a smooth and consistent output for everything.
Dan has stated he does not have the time for this element from a CIC perspective, as this would actually be a quite time consuming endeavour to do properly as I envisage it placing on multiple platforms from FB, insta, the OC page and group, for every event, social, meet, excursion etc. Which we did know and were warned of when he continued the position, he has limited capacity. Ideally yes, this would be the CIC or another media team member, unfortunately it is not being done by any current team volunteers, nor have any come forward to take this on. The other alternative of the Events Co-ord, well I'm not sure on Wills use of Social media or activity level, capacity to undertake. The other option for an Event member to pick it up would also work, yet again no volunteers to undertake.
I would quite happily just do it myself, as I was, but that is not an option currently. I don't mind how this happens, whether it's a fragmented approach and some get at least a partial visibility by the Events organisers taking ownership themselves like Derek has suggested, which at least gets some online or someone starts dealing with this
It's everyone's club at the end of the day, the more successful we can make it by being visible and getting higher attendance by working together to get events promoted, then the longer we will be around.

Re: AGM 2024 - BMM Sunday 19th May
To think I have volunteered to attend the AGM again making it two in a row. I am seriously considering dropping out if its likely to be this level of bickering. I now understand why the AGM takes so long. There should be no surprises before an AGM - hopefully all members should be mainly aiming in the same direction, and then the actual meeting should take around half the time of last years, giving more chance to meet people. I joined this club back in about 2007, mainly to learn about the technical stuff, and it has been excellent. Last year I thought I should attend the AGM as it was only about an hour away from me.....the day went well, but the lead up was very similar to this year, and often from the same people....Things change in life sometimes for the best, sometimes not. We can choose to stay and try and amicably (like the last two comments) suggest improvements, leave, or do what I am reading - snipe at the people trying to a good job. The latter choice is unacceptable behaviour. Grow up people. John

Re: AGM 2024 - BMM Sunday 19th May
I agree everyone should try and pull in the same direction. However, that doesn’t mean that differing views cannot be aired.
It also doesn’t mean one or the other is wrong.
What it does mean is that a compromise might be the best way to take something forward, or change something, to the satisfaction of a larger proportion of members.
I fear some take push back far too personally at times, resulting in wrong interpretations or an escalation of animosity.
Chill pills are required, followed by adult discussion.
I don’t believe there is anyone in the Club who wants it to fail, and I don’t believe anyone is in the Club unless they love the RX8 - through ownership or otherwise.
However, I know that being on a committee is challenging (I’m on 3 and Chair of 1) and that you can despair at times about the challenges you receive. If I’ve learnt anything though it’s that if one person is saying it, others are thinking it, and it needs to be addressed.
My family plans have changed, so please add me back on to the attendee list.
As always I’ll have my views and opinions and will not be afraid to make them known.
I look forward to an amicable AGM with full and frank airing of views and calm and collected adult conversation.

Re: AGM 2024 - BMM Sunday 19th May
This post is in answer to Drew's last contribution......
There is no jiggery pokery or software required to add another profile to a Fb account. My wife's Fb account was setup by one of our children many years ago to swap photos with family and close friends, we now use WhatsApp. The phrase Fakebook I used is purely tongue in cheek and it was a reference to those who think they have thousands of friends! I am not hiding behind any Fb facade, that is me on the right of the profile picture taken back in the 60's.
As I said, I'm happy to post any club events via my ligament Fb page and also copy and paste any relevant information back to the Forum. I have no wish to be part of the RX8OC committee, but if I can help in this way, I'm happy to do so.

If you speak with Ann and maybe Dan/will when he is back aswell, we can perhaps look at getting you additional permissions on both the FB group and Forum. That way you can edit updates into Events and socials when your transferring information back and forward instead of new posts each time.
If you are coming to the AGM, I will show you what I used to do on creating tabs for events on FB

Re: AGM 2024 - BMM Sunday 19th May
My ignorance is going to kick in here so bear with me. Is the RX8OC forum the first platform that will highlight any new events, announcements and topics on anything regarding RX8OC business?. As a fully paid up member, this is where i expect to see it first, other platforms are a close second.
Could someone in the know please answer my query with a simple yes or no reply.

The Open Meet and Forest Drive I've organised for this Sunday was launched on the Forum, then I copied and pasted it on to AHM run RX8OC Facebook page after it had gone live.goodeggbob wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 6:41 pmMy ignorance is going to kick in here so bear with me. When, in future an event is organised there should be no reason why it shouldn't be posted on the group RX8OC Fb page as well as the Forum as they are both linked.
NB All RX8OC platforms are manned by fully paid up members.

Re: AGM 2024 - BMM Sunday 19th May
Rob, the forum is where all OC business is conducted. James is more than qualified to make the statement, being he can access and view all areas that are hidden of the forum, such as the events area where this planning happens or areas where announcements/decisions are made before publishing as he is a mod. The forum is where any official business is published first or official events. If a private member is organising their own and advertising, it may not be their first place, but the hope is it is. Thats a private function, much like your ramp day, then hopefully it is here first, but anything official from the CM or Events team would be organised and published here, before being advertised or broadcast elsewhere.
Everyone is generally singing on the same sheet that the forum needs to be the main area for management and tracking of events. This will not be changing and makes complete sense to use the tool in the format we always have, other media platforms are good for quick discussions or advertising, yet management of attendees, times, places, payments, guests of members etc is easily plotted in the way we normally do and should be the preffered format for anyone organising something on behalf of the club to copy the official way of tracking for ease.

Re: AGM 2024 - BMM Sunday 19th May
I can't make the AGM so would just like to make one other point.
I don't think we should be posting all the social meets on Social Media. It's fine having threads on the forum, where people can follow the ones they attend. Someone did post them all up on Facebook previously and in my opinion it was just too much.
The other issue is, for example this months MK meet probably won't go ahead, as only a couple of people can make it. If it gets posted on Facebook then sometimes people will say they're interested, but most likely won't actually turn up. We have had one poor person sat in a pub car park on their own.
I think the occasional posting and promotion of a social meet is a good idea, especially in the Summer months. We have done it before and it has attracted new people. But posting all of them up as repeat events just doesn't work, IMHO.
There is a list of them on the Facebook Group that Nigel did, but it's probably out of date and I don't know if anyone ever reads it?

I am on Facebook but no longer follow any rx8 groups. From my perspective the reason I pay a membership is to attend club organised meets advertised on the forum. If people want to organise their own thing on FB fine but I won't be there.
I'm looking forward to a cordial and positive AGM.

Re: AGM 2024 - BMM Sunday 19th May
Just to put the record straight, no one is suggesting that events are organised just on Fb. All events should and will be constructed and published on the Forum. In using RX8OC Fb it is purely to reach those who don't frequent the Forum regularly and also those who find foraging around the Forum a little tricky, as recent comments have suggested. Some of the events which can only be found on the Forum are poorly subscribed, a little soul destroying for those you have spent time organising. The use of Fb and other platforms, is to purely bolster the interest.RichT_Derby wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 11:15 amI am on Facebook but no longer follow any rx8 groups. So please don't be put off by the RX8OC using other means to promote the longevity of this great club.

Re: AGM 2024 - BMM Sunday 19th May
Totally agree, events like the Japfest and the Castle Combe/Beaulieu weekend have mustered a lot of interest on the Forum, so there is no need to promote it elsewhere. Sadly though events like Go Japan (at the moment) and the Club Annual Drive, could do with a little help. The wife and I are spending a long weekend in the Peak District, just so on the Sunday I can be on the "grid" with the other.. 5 RX8s!AMH wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 10:28 amI can't make the AGM so would just like to make one other point.

This weekend, at the Open Meet, will be a test case, as five of those who have confirmed are via the Fb post.

Re: AGM 2024 - BMM Sunday 19th May
Over the past week or so I have been thinking about my decision not to attend the AGM and given that I have discussion points on the agenda it is only right that I attend to participate in person.
See you all on Sunday.

Re: AGM 2024 - BMM Sunday 19th May
Edited Conan out and replaced with Chris. Can we get a final call please on those attending for food numbers etc. We have a decent representation, however a few more members would not go amiss if anyone is free for a few hours that Sunday.

No plus one for me this time, Donna decided that a lay in is a much better idea on a Sunday morning and I can't disagree!

Re: AGM 2024 - BMM Sunday 19th May
No plus 1 for me either - they are away, and I am afraid I am going to have to skive off early too - picking up my wife at Cheltenham station at 2.15...I'll be there for the morning though. John
I may get the hang of this one day??
