Which car was yours? I'm pretty sure we got photos of all the cars out on the track in the afternoon.
There's one in the thread below now :)

Mine was the non-photogenic red car with the black bonnet painted with blackboard paint and holes cut out with an angle grinder that hadn't been cleaned for two years with the interior thrown in the bin and the sunroof deleted and replaced with riveted in lexan sealed with more silicon sealant than the casual observer would deem necessary. You couldn't miss it

3rd "casualty" of the day was, ignoring my tyre and brake pads, I have power steering fluid all over the front right corner of the engine bay. 12 months warranty expires 12th March and its booked in for Friday the 8th March along with an MOT. Tyre going on Wednesday this week.
I broke the ssv solenoid mid-afternoon. Noticed I had a lot less power above 4500, it was surging back in at 6500 and I was braking for avon over the crest at 110 rather than 120. Shame really as I was so pleased about how the car was behaving and handling.

Was that, more silicon sealant AND some top-spec, highly waterproof, black gaffer tape that spent a good portion of the parked up time next to me? Some excellent handiwork there!

We were lapping at near identical times. You went by me on my outlap, and once I got on it we stayed about the same distance apart until I closed on your inlap. Caught me by surprise as I wasn't expecting you to go in then. You weren't treating it as a cool down! Image

That day was a lot of fun, and so nice to share a track with some quite talented and observant people - nobody desperate to defend their line or in too much of a hurry to get through before a corner. Apologies to those who pulled left to give me space and then watched me go nowhere in their offside mirror - the pedal was in the carpet, honest!
Some very naughty people made me stay up in the bar until quite late / early on a couple of nights when I should have been tucked up in bed. You know who you are and you're all wonderful people! ;)

Yep, that sounds like my car. There's a lot of tape on the sharp bits inside... no expense spared but one a&e visit too late. It's the left most one at the back
rx8.jpg
The sunroof used to look a little better but I had a leak so to cure it I went a bit mad with the sealant because the car was filling with rain.

It's a bit of a state really but it only cost me £250. I have spent about 7k on it since then though so maybe I should make it look better as it was a bit embarrassing next to the cars that were there. It picked up quite a few marks at Llandow from the cones and a small excursion across the infield.

I'm thinking about painting it satin drab olive over the summer... can't look any worse than it does now

I'm sure Sam and Chris will be along at some point to say it as primary beneficiaries (courtesy of Sophie and Michael repectively), but a huge "thank you" once again to Ryan Rotary Performance for the generous and shiny array of raffle prizes they donated.

You were certainly flying. One of a few cars lapping in a whole different league to me. I got down to consistent 1.28-9s in the afternoon. Starting to think that I need a Bridgeport in my life Image

Not an issue Stew, I missed the afternoon sessions messing about unsuccessfully with the brakes and that's when most of the photos were taken by people.

^^ yep, I only did 3-4 laps in the afternoon, the long line of gearbox oil put me off, simply no longer worth the risk for me^^

Good to see me get overtaken in pretty much all the videos though. Slow? Moi?

In Daves his silver car approaching so quick distracted me from my braking point = lock up and a late turn into the 2nd chicane
I think he was still warming up too!

Wise words Wayne, which I am sure are very true. :thumleft: Putting Cusco arbs on the car has been one of the best mods that I've done. However I'm still on standard shocks and springs with 75k on them, plus some very tired bushes.

Would only go bridgeport if my engine dies, or I happen to buy another car that already has one.

I've got the FD for when I want more power, but am happier tracking the 8 :D

Thanks for noticing :D Seriously though, I also noticed that Mallory was definitely a high water mark for me. I felt like a hero there simply because I got to grips with Gerrards and the Esses quite quickly and attacked them with more aggression than usual. For whatever reason, that track suited me.

I actually quite like my current suspension setup as it feels like there's a lot of feedback from it, while still being quite capable. Probably sums up why I love RX-8's so much. Mallory aside, I might not be posting fast lap times with my current car, but it's still allowing me to improve. My current long term plan is that I'll treat myself to a better track weapon once I think I'm confident enough (and more importantly can afford one).
