We've entered the final week before the big Snowdonia tour, but it's still not late to join for a fantastic, scenic drive and of course to meet and just simply have fun with us!
If the sounds of RX8s echoing in the mountains is not tempting enough, we are also holding a * * RAFFLE * * where you can win some (a lot of) goofy and some useful items, too!
x19 meal orders submitted. Senor Jones is coming the following day for drive only now. So we have 19 for food and 22 for the drive out with 13 cars.
Thank you to those supporting the club and coming for an enjoyable weekend away.
14 cars.

The day is upon us. Look forward to welcoming you all up here. We will aim for a 1700 meet in the Quay bar, aiming to leave no later than 1730 for the Hayloft please. If your earlier to the bar, then I look forward to seeing you when I arrive and your suitably warmed up. Ive seen the awards by Eva, and they look fantastic. I look forward to sharing many images in here later of the fantastic evening, in preparation for tomorrow's road trip. Safe travels everyone.
First night of the AM a great success...... amazing members as always, Dragon Welsh themed awards, a fun raffle and beautiful food plus setting. Thank you all that came and especially Eva for the work on the awards and raffle. That was a perfect farewell meal to end my tenure and I appreciate all that came to enjoy. What a great great meal and I forget the difference in prices between here and Oxford. 3 drinks for 8.50! Thats one pint in Oxford! The treasurer nearly fell over at the price, and for a good reason for a change

One of the 7 custom Awards in Dragon theme by Eva last night. 6 inch Dragon heads of various dragons for flame spitting, lowest, deepest etc. Full list and winners will be published later after the drive we are preparing for.

Thanks for organising all, was really good to give the car a proper drive for once. Traffic in Essex is ridiculous nowadays. It was a long way to drive but doubly worth it to see the jets flying around at low level after the meet on Monday.

Gutted to have missed this. All the photos and videos look really good, hope the club runs it again

Thanks Mark, unlikely this will run on the OC again im afraid. I had alot of negativity last time tried this which resulted in cancelling. It was then voted for as the AM and still had alot of backlash from people for no reason and unnecessarily that never intended to come and attempted to taint others from what was a beautiful outing with perfect weather and clear roads. The top gear road was a thing of beauty this year. Not one other vehicle and completely ours, with beautiful weather. The best run ive ever done of it and regularly do it. That in itself this year was worth everything. I dont think we will ever experience that again as was the perfect blend of atrociously bad weather fri/Sat to put people off coming away for the weekend, and then perfect weather Sunday when it was to late to come other than people that were there.
Therefore, I am afraid I will not run this again for the club. However, I will be running it again next year away from the OC in a less formal setting of dinner, sleep, route again as it worked really well this year and was just the right length. I will make sure I add your name to the list to come and enjoy with us as a private gathering of friends having a laugh in our cars. And you can chase Silviu in his lotus

I think the events team can probably also look into something like this next year if Eva and the new chair agrees. It seemed like a great outing and hopefully the photos posted convince some more people to come next year. While yes, it may not be the next AM, I think organising these things are still incredibly important for the club for those who would like to combine a drive with a bit of a break away. I would be happy to lend a hand and might even have the time (and money) to go next year.
If you would like to invite the club again Drew i'd be happy to liase with you to get it posted here next year

Thanks Ellis, but im afraid I wont be inviting the club on Snowdon. However, I am more than happy to drive down for Cotswolds or up to NC500 or wherever the club hopefully does a road trip. I do enjoy a good road trip, and adventure wherever it is. The good thing with snowdon is the local knowledge to take us down some of my fave roads to go through. That route we did is not a known route and other than the top gear road tends to be absent of tourists. Yet we get some of the best twisting and sweeping roads probably in the world through the mountains valleys. Hopefully some pictures and videos will emerge of the roads aswell as the views.

It's a shame you don't feel like doing Snowdonia as a club drive in the future. As we all know it's a bloody wonderful experience. Obviously when it's just another drive out hopefully it won't draw any mindless criticism and anyone who doesn't like it will just do something else. Either way it's been wonderful and I know me and everyone else is immensely grateful for your efforts. Put me down for next year

Better late than never. Little holiday project to do something with my video footage of the weekend:
Thanks for the great memories.
Some great video footage of the scenery and the rain that Snowdonia is famous for! It was beyond my budget for last year, but if it comes up as a stand alone event this year, I will give it serious consideration.
The cost wasn't so bad, and that was with me extending my weekend and having 3 nights away. Given the distance I decided it would be worth packing more in, hence the mountains which was a nice cheap activity and the zip lining, which wasn't, but I'd wanted to do it for years and it was the perfect opportunity to tick it off. With all the extra driving I did, I used 3 tanks of fuel over the weekend, but can hardly complain with how good the roads were on the Sunday and Monday in the dry.
