Re: AGM 2024 - BMM Sunday 19th May
Thank you to everyone who attended today, it was a relatively simple and straightforward AGM, some good points raised and answered. Also some volunteering for jobs from Silviu and others with great ideas. In general a positive and productive meeting that concluded some points and ensured the past AGM action points had all been completed.
For those that were unable to make it, the club is in a good place in all departments:
Harry as memsec has done an astonishing job to bring the membership side of things up to date and in line. The net loss of only 1 member while gaining 78 new members at this time in the car and clubs lifetime is a fantastic tribute to everyone's hard work running and promoting the club across many platforms and shows. while Harry's streamlining, up to date book keeping and relentless renewal reminders keep us all happily in order.
The club sec has continued her dedication and hard work to ensuring the clubs smooth running and discipline is in order, while ensuring all elections and action points have been concluded in a timely manner. On this point, we have x5 committee places up for election in the next 3 months. To this end, we will be running CiC and Shopkeeper immediately, while club sec, mem sec and Chairman will be combined in line with Christine's date as they are only a few weeks apart. That will see my tenure extended 4 weeks, Christine's remains the same and Harry as mem sec brought forward 4 weeks. A busy time for all member so please ensure you check your inbox for the ballot slips.
Will as the new EC has had great success in accumulating many shows and events for us this year, far too many to list but check out the events area to ensure your up to date with the still approx 10 events this season alone to go. For clarification a good point was raised surrounding what constitutes an official event or unofficial event, with more than 1 member confused to this. We will be changing this to a Club supported event, which will be events promoted and decided upon by the EC and promoted as such in a forum area designated with that title. All other events will be "unofficial", though that term is to be dropped, and these are events members, committee etc may conduct but do not have an official link to the club. I.e robs Ramp day or Dan's pond house BBQ. Those these examples have been organised on the forum, they are the individuals creation and responsibility, the club has no support capacity, where's for example the AM at JDM Combe or Simply Jap is a supported event where club assets, products, consumables and liability insurance is in place.
Ian has continued his role to the usual high standard as a stalwart ambassador of the club in the shop, with x7 total sponsor traders and club shop intake slightly above average years at approx £1400 income. The issues highlighted for further discussion were brought up and settled with Silviu. In general, the shop running is not an issue and an unfortunate series of events had led to 1 minor issue and poor experience, which has been rectified and is not an ongoing issue. From this though, silviu has kindly offered some time to assist with trader accounts and will be discussed further between Ian and silviu to how this can be implemented. Thank you both for a proactive outcome.
Ollie as treasurer has balanced the books once again, with a steady standard of approx 16k in the bank. Which is our typical amount for the past few years after balancing outgoings and incoming. This will be published for all members to see a balance sheet in the coming few days as an action point for ollie. Unfortunately an online server error with our accounts package prevented this on the weekend of the AGM. He has successfully negotiated continuing liability cover and general running costs of the club to keep costs on par with recent year's, resulting in the steady state of the clubs financials.
And Dan as CiC. Unfortunately we have now lost Dan, with today being his annoucement to cut short his tenure due to both recent events and his personal situation. This is covered in a separate topic where he says farewell, to which he bids official life on the club a goodbye to focus more upon his own time. He has held a valiant position and produced some really high quality items while being a keen addition to the committee. A level headed approach to club business and font of knowledge, he will be missed within the committee, but has agreed to stay on within the media team for additional support. He fielded multiple questions today, with excellent responses, and was able to answers queries surrounding media output on YouTube etc. The short version being its just not commercially viable nor do we have the content ideas to be non repeatative. Thanks Dan, a solid performance and deserving incumbent.
So finally the Chairman's summary, as above. The committee have done another hugely successfull year in ironing out inheritied issues with their usual impeccable standards; winning x3 awards at shows for best club (New record?), equaled the biggest ever numbers at an AM and also one of my personal favourite shows of the year for Yakushi, created new events and AM features throughout plus social gatherings, gained more discounts and club benefits than has been for years (Thanks Discount Dan!), merged social media groups, increased trader and new member numbers and in general put on a fantastic array for all the enjoy while keeping the financial aspects where they should be and the club covered legally.
What more can we ask? Great job everyone, thank you to all the supportive members and if my tenure does not continue this coming election time when voting opens, then I'm proud of everything that's been achieved and the work in the forefront and background that everyone on all teams/committee positions have done these past 2 years. I know if I hand over the reigns, the oncoming Chair will take on a well sorted club in all aspects and a productive team.......

On a separate note, who was it that I passed on the M1 heading South with their afterburners spewing the biggest flames I've ever seen on anything that wasn't about to explode!

Re: AGM 2024 - BMM Sunday 19th May
I was thinking about the British Motor Museum today - as somewhere to go with my brother - and it made me think I’d not read the minutes from our meeting there: as I like to do.
I know Drew summarised the meeting, but can someone point me to the actual meeting minutes please.
I was laughed at when I said at the AGM that I struggle to find official documents on the forum, but I honestly can’t find the minutes - can someone provide a link for me.
Thanks
