and my other car :
1969 Lancia Fulvia 1.6 HF - spent 4 years looking for one and found this. Taken just before I imported it from Italy. 3 owners and 10 500 km ! Currently rebuilding brakes and steering box to make it road worthy. This is the homologation series (1243 produced) for the successful Fulvia rally car, about 400 are thought to survive (no jokes about rust please !). We also have a Fiat Multipla - but for reasons of decency......... Great car though.

Hmm, we had a Lancia Thema Turbo for a while. A car only an electrician could love... Seriously, I don't think there was ever a day when everything worked on that car. Didn't help that there was no Lancia agent in the UK, so all parts had to come straight from Italy... Waited over four months for a plastic rear window switch!
Anyway, hope you have more luck with yours!

I had aThema Turbo (1994) before the RX8. Never really had any problems with it but but I can understand your frustration if you did, especially if you had to deal with FIAT to get your parts. Those that complain about Mazda service really need to visit FIAT, it will totally recalibrate their sights!!
Dealers are no good for cars as old as this - but there are many specialists around in UK and Italy and the club is very good.
Out of interest I enquired of Dunlop if the brake calipers were still available (disc all round - Dunlop only made them for a few years) - yes was the answer, £800 a corner !! Like most old cars you either have to be rich or have access to machine tools to get bits made. Not having the money means it is lucky I have access to tools !

There once was a man from Essex,
Who was potty over Mazda RXs.
He ordered an 8,
and had to wait,
But when it arrived, said "tis better than sex is".

Here is my collection.
Actually the MX5 is my mum’s car, its standing in for my MG Midget which is too ashamed to show its face at the moment. Few the last few (err well 15 ) years it’s been sitting in the garage, so you can imagine the state it’s in. In fact I moved it last weekend for the first time since it was ‘put away’. I’ve finally started to clear out the garage ready to start the restoration project; it’s going to take quite some time!

Is that the V8 version of the MGB GT? Looks like it with those wheels.
Always wanted one of those when I was a lad - had a regular MGB GT at the time.

Underneath all the years of dust and grime the Midget should have some blue paint left. The red car thing is just a coincidence; both the MG and MX5 were bought because of the condition and history rather than colour (we knew the previous owners of the cars, both car nuts who had looked after them well). I originally ordered a blue 190 RX-8, (was tempted by black but my previous car was black and it was almost impossible to keep it looking clean). After waiting a few months for the car to be delivered I found a better loan deal which meant I could just about afford a 230. So I either reordered and went to the back of the queue, stick with my order or accept a cancelled order but compromise on the colour, in the end time and above all power won.SCOLL wrote:what colour is the Midget
Yes its an original 1974 V8. It made for a good tow car when I was racing the Midget. Nice and powerful for towing and rather quick. The big problem is although its great in a straight line, it doesn’t do corners, and it’s lethal in the wet. (The Midget is the complete opposite, not very fast, but there are not many cars that will stay with it round the country lanes). So that’s another project that I’ll get round to one day – uprating the suspension on the V8.RotaryMC wrote:Is that the V8 version of the MGB GT? Looks like it with those wheels.

Sounds great - takes me back to the days of leaf spring suspension and those awful lever arm shock absorbers! Oh and a close familiarity with welding torches and bodyfiller! Always promised myself that one day I would rebuild a B with a Heritage bodyshell - add that to the list of 'must do' projects!Boleyn wrote:
