Never driven one but I am gonna throw the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio out there. i think 0-60 is similar to E63s ? No idea of comfort but I assume it's big enough to carry 4 people in comfort and plenty in the boot ? Is it as anonymous as a ford focus ? Not sure... I don't think I've ever seen one... or maybe I did and didn't realise ? :-k
Well done, that was superbly worked out.
That car is a revelation with the best exhaust note I have ever heard and it just a blast to drive. Really, really impressed; just have to find out what the waiting list is going to be. Shame to see the Merc go but I feel like a change.
V-rex I will be in touch.

No way!! Really? Wow. I never win anything, not even a tenner on the lottery.

I thought of it as I'd been looking at this one for a while. If I'm ever forced to ditch the RX8 and go one car, which with kiddies would have to be an SUV for the mo, then i would have loved to replace my CX5 and get this.

I've only ever seen good reviews for it, and now with your stamp of approval, it must really be as superb as I thought.

N-ring... lovely. An unusual colour scheme but it so works. Tbh the car looks great in red or blue as well. I think only the white does the car a disservice imo, but don't get me wrong I'd have it anyway!

I seem to remember there were some extra goodies on the N-ring other than just the colour scheme...

Let me google now....

I think Stelvio comes from some Italian mountain pass and quadrifoglio is the Italian for cloverleaf? Not entirely sure why cloverleaf is used for Alfas top models but fair enough. They also have a Q4 model which i saw around and I got excited thinking I'd seen a Quadrifoglio in the wild but alas no.

Always been lovely looking cars ( sadly I've never driven one ) and now it seems reliable as well. Plus my favourite F1 driver Kimi drives for them as well, so they must be good! :thumright:

I'm not normally a fan of Crossovers but I can see the appeal of the Alpha. The E63s estate is basically my ideal semi sensible money no object road car though.

Great choice Ranjan. I got to drive the Giulia Quadrifoglio at Millbrook and it was awesome. The stelvio of course has the benefit of the 4wd. Big Alfa fan myself. Had over 15 in my time.

I believe Ranjan has kept a BMW M5 in France for towing, which is why I didn't suggest the obvious against the E63S :!:

I meant legally as RS6 etc are not classified for towing so can't legally tow.

Fair play ! That's cool. I generally look at older models so possibly Audi has changed but never used to classify any of their S or RS ranges not sure about BMWs old ones

Bit of an update to close this topic; combined the Mallory weekend with a Monday visit to the Marylebone Alfa dealership to order the car but once there, having a chance to actually check out the car found to my dismay that the rear storage was not as large as I remembered; actually quite a bit smaller; deal breaker. Left the dealership for City airport deflated and sad but on my way home passed the Aston Martin place and in the window was their new DBX; well, I made the taxi driver go around the block to pass again and have another look; did this three times. Blow it, I thought I might as well go in and have a closer look.

Left for the airport 70 mins later having speced the car and paid my deposit.

THE END.
