Seeing as how any future work seems likely to need it I've ordered a set of female torx sockets. É4 to e24

On the Friday morning before we set off on our Hollies had to go to boots to pick up monthly prescriptions. Was up and out before 8.30 so it was quiet, thought I'd try out the new Tim Hortons drive through on my way home as we hadn't had breakfast.
Was sitting in the queue when I noticed the 2m height limit right in front of me. I was stationary and got out to check... Just as well as eurobox + top box was too high! Was fun trying to get back out of the drive through queue😳

Recently noticed an odd noise when using radio. Didn't happen when playing CDs etc.

Sounds like an irregular interference noise. But oddly limited to the left hand speakers in the car and most so on front tweeter...

Thought it might be mine or the missus phone but still there with them powered off.

Does it coincide with switching anything else On, like wipers, heated rear window, brakes lights, etc?

I don't think so with any of those. Could try turning off interior fan and AC.
Lights are DRL so don't think I can fully turn off...

Still haven't bottomed radio interference, but excluded a few things. (and sticking to playing CDS)

Todays issue was door making an excessive clunk when opening.
Noticed door stay was moving so tightened that (luckily i had a suitable torx) and greased moving parts with some spray grease.

Jobs a goodun!

Fitted new wipers as old ones were getting a bit smeary.
Not cheap but learned my lesson about buying cheap wiper blades. Installation was a breeze thankfully as model specific head instead of a universal one!!!

So wrt radio interference..
With driving car a little more and trying to move the kids away from listening to kids bop CDs. I have noticed that interference doesn't seem to happen when stationary. Have tried new aerial whip but this made no difference. Did notice with wife in the car and no kids the interference is worse over rough roads, so suspect loose connection somewhere.

Car has extended warranty and couldn't see it specifically excluded, but it'll be the usual pay for investigation and hope whatever the fault is, is actually covered.

5008 in at stealers for MOT and Service - they collected first thing.
Had a call mid morning saying they were struggling to get sump plug out and there might be damage to the sump - I pointed out that they were the only ones to have serviced it but was happy to pay for sump plug if it needed one but would need another discussion if sump was damaged.

Just had a call and they say the sump is cross threaded.....

They are going to pay for replacement at least (think my comments on this mornings call tipped them off I was not going to be happy) but not getting car back today.

Looks like getting the kids to their swimming might be a logistical challenge 3 kids 2 adults 1 RX8???

whats that puzzle with the fox/chicken and grain...

Oh and repeat of last years CV boot clip being broken - at least this time it should come under the MOT insurance.

Oh and video also showed (which they forgot) that CV boot has snapped a clip.
(warranty wont cover unless it an actual failure on MOT :$) - I can cope with £50

Got car back, MOT and Service £210
At their / Insurance cost:
Repair CV Boot (New clip and re-grease) £56
Sump replaced £427

I was a little peeved that they didnt top up the adblu and instead gave me a barrel to do it myself - all because there was a couple of coats sitting over the boot floor cover they need to lift!

But given the cost to replace sump I'll let it go.....

Aye, they didn't argue it as they have done all the servicing so could only have been their fitters that cross threaded it!

Thank God for abs!

Driving back home from the coast with wife and kids. Not hooning or anything was even sticking to the 20 zone I was in. nearly home when came to junction and cyclist must have been obscured by the A pillar....
Very nearly had him on my bonnet ☹️ as continued out thinking junction was clear. Thank goodness the brakes worked well and managed not to hit him.

Not sure who was more shaken me or him.
Luckily he was okay and was okay about it and even Shook hands after I profusely apologised.
