White++ R3 Track Car
Hi All, I have owned my RX-8 R3 for around two-and-a-half years now and thought it was about time I joined the Owners Club (having made use of some helpful tips from a few threads on here previously )…
I am based in Berkshire and purchased the RX-8 as a new track-day toy, but one that would still be driven on the road too. I had been running a Toyota MR2 Mk2 NA as a track car for quite a few years and it was time for something new… After looking around at a few options and narrowing it down to an RX-8 or a couple of others, I finally took the plunge. I had admired the RX-8 ever since it was launched, but never got round to owning one before now.
The plan was to slowly mod this car to make it more track focussed, but I wasn't (and still am not) sure just how extreme I would take it, as I still like the idea of driving it on the road too.
I have done a few mods to the car already, and taken it on a few track days, but it is now in the process of having an engine re-build, plus a few upgrades, by Scott at RRP (necessitated by a side seal failure). I have decided on half-bridge porting with the re-build (this was somewhat of a compromise decision as decided against a full-bridge as I wanted to retain some low-down drivability for when not on track). Really not looking forward to the run-in period when I get it back from the re-build (sooooo boring) and will no doubt be taking it on loads of unnecessary drives trying to get it fully run-in as quickly as possible so that I can hopefully get on some track days this year!
I am planning to start a build thread with more details for anyone interested… And the "White++" colour will become obvious!
I look forward to possibly meeting some fellow RX-8 owners at track days in the future.
Cheers, Mat

Hi and Mat. I'd think you'll enjoy the aimless drives when you're running it in despite the fact you'll be keeping it relatively sedate - its an excuse for aimless drives anyway.

Re: White++ R3 Track Car
Welcome,
You will feel at home here as a lot of cars enjoy track time ,as for how far you take the car it is a slippery slope some members start going track days with standard cars and end up as race cars .yes start a build thread as it is always good to look back on the development of the car and there is a huge wealth of knowledge here

Re: White++ R3 Track Car
Or they go to track days, realise their car needs to be back under a fleecey blanket in the garage and start thinking they need another rx8 just for track and a trailer for the back of the estate........

Re: White++ R3 Track Car
Thanks for the warm welcomes all...
Yes, am sure I will be ok with the extra seat time, just knowing you are 'artificially' limited to a low max rev limit can drag a littleShagrington wrote: ↑Sat May 28, 2022 1:26 amHi and Mat. I know that experience very well - pretty much where I went with the MR2 (although no race car, was fully stripped and track-prepped and no longer road legal). Trouble is, I like driving the RX-8 on the road still, so don't want to take it to the point where it becomes a pain to drive on the road... But we will see, the bug might bite me again.

I'll see if I can fix it... Or wait until my membership is activated and I can upload directly then.

Hey Hey!
Berkshire, eh? That's quite close to both Castle Combe (where JDM Combe is being held) and not a million miles away from The Pond House - where there's an awesome BBQ being held with ~30+ members in attendance - would be a great place to introduce yourself face to face if you fancied it

Thanks Doc, I seen the JDM thread, looks like I am too late to get on the club stand though
Will take a look at the BBQ thread.
