New here... kinda... Lincolnshire

Post by Blabis »

Hey everyone :D

This is my second rx8 so I would think of myself as a seasoned forum lurker. My first rx8 was a 55 plate, dark grey (dont know the actual colour name) 231, which was at some point part of the rx8 owners club as when I bought it, it was plastered with stickers from rx8ownersclub and jdm combe 2019. That was my entry into the rotary world and honestly, even though I did a LOT of research, I still feel like I went in blind. It had everyones favorite coolant seal leak when I bought it, but it was £900 and I only needed a car for 3 months so I thought why not. I ended up driving it for almost a year when I sold it on to a family member who had it for another 5ish months.

After selling my first rx8 I drove a few different cars and my regret selling became worse and worse, so I got another rx8, PZ this time. It was misdiagnosed as low comp so I got it for £1200. This time I knew what I was getting myself into so I did some digging in the forums and various youtube videos and found a few things that could be wrong, none of them are low compression. Ended up with new coils and the car was as new, compression at 7's with one rotor face at 6.6, stock motor on 60k miles #-o . Could not be any happier, the car is rust free and now just need a new clutch and source an original pz backbox as it (un)fortunatelly has a straight pipe backbox fitted. So if anyone has a pz exhaust laying around and/or knows a place to get an oem exedy clutch for less than £300 send me a pm. Thats the story so far and looking forward to many years of debating what oil to use with you guys

First of all welcome along 😁

Sounds like you got a bit of a bargain with the PZ!

Best local place to try for parts would be Boston Rotary if you haven’t already - Pete’s a legend and normally has a bit of everything 👍

Welcome, Dr Frankenrex has broke a few PZ and maybe has an exhaust laying around. Are they not the standard exhaust with prodrive tailpipe covers?

Would the standard exhaust still fit on a pz? Might be an option if it does

Yes, the fit is no different as a complete catback.

The Prodrive system was made by Scorpion, who also offered a very similar setup retail for a while, but not for a long time.

I've often wondered if there was sufficient demand to see if they'd do another run for a group buy....

I'd definatelly be interested, I'm sure with pz models getting rarer a lot of owners would be interested in bringing them back to original state

Sounds like you got a bargain! Any pics 😎
I too would be interested in a PZ Scorpion, new catback exhaust. Im sure if we got enough people together who were willing to put down a deposit, Scorpion would do another batch

Wish the wheels were left original colour but oh well :x the grey one was my first rx8 which I ended up buying back for parts as I knew I would be getting another 8 at some point... My biggest regret not keeping the interior as it was black/brown combo :(
