Back again...

Post by hachiroku »

Hi all, a few years ago I owned a nice streetported '04 blue RX8 with all the trimmings, had it for a year, loved it, but ultimately sold it as I just wasn't using it as I had a company vehicle I could use at the time.

However I'm once again looking for an RX8, I just miss the smooth engine and ridiculous redline πŸ˜ƒ

I recall my previous RX8 had started to rust on the front wings/arch, do the wings bolt on/off easily?
There's a nice 8 near me but it looks to have the same issue, otherwise it seems sound πŸ€”

:welcome: back!

Yeah, front wings do unbolt and go back on, although depending on how rusty, it may been it's difficult to release the bottom bolts by the sill and just generally the condition of the rest of the car (rust wise) should be taken into account. Another one to note is paint matching, as it's notorious at least for velocity red in particular, and others in general to not match even on the same car  but yeah - short answer is you can remove and replace front wings, you've just got to remove front bumper)headlights and side skirts (if any)

Thanks for the replies.
I'll have to go and view the car and see what's what.
It's an Evolve model in the dark mica red colour, looks nice, recent compression test.

I think after my previous blue 8 almost anything else will feel like a step down πŸ˜†.
