Re: Hello
Hah! You boys do like your PZs and yeah, they're a good choice, can't fault you for that!
Be prepared to search for a good PZ, they command a premium over standard 8's similar to how the 40th Anniversary editions have gone, and being less of them around as they were a special edition, you may find you have to wait a while for the right one to come along

Re: Hello
Top tip for buying a PZ, find one with all original wheel caps as replacements are a bazillion pounds - each!

Re: Hello
Well I pulled the trigger on this PZ:
64,000 miles with a rebuild by The Performance Shop at 61,000 miles.
It seems to have the original PZ suspension at the front, but the rears appear to be in matched and not yellow. So thinking of replacing with the Tein Street Basis all round.
The wheels have been "refurbished" in black so these might also get some attention.
Also looking at options for Sohn/COFS.
Another thing on the list is the stereo, firmware version 10.1 so I know my options are limited. Will be using a CD slot phone holder for now while I weigh up my options.
I'm also a motorcyclist, and I just love chasing that beep!

Re: Hello
Lovely to see another PZ around, and happy that you got what you wanted!
Having a rebuild by a reputable place like TPS so recently is very good news for you, especially if it's only 3k miles i'd have thought that the warranty would transfer would it not?
Shame about the suspension, and it will be likely that the rears will have been changed as those springs are most susceptible to snapping, but I wouldn't discount getting some rears or a full set of PZ kit, as it's damn good suspension from stock, I know a lot of PZ owners who have driven other setups will be along here to tell you that one soon enough
Those PZ wheels are lovely, although they deserve to be silver or gunmetal colour be careful with the centre caps though if you do refurbish the wheels, as they're expensive as muck to replace! I know Keke had made/refurbished some custom ones that are amazing, but are still up there on price by nature of them being handmade from previous caps
Maybe we can get a nifty little photoshoot out of you for the car hah! And maybe joining the club to access all of the technical specs, data and extra discounts?
Go get that BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!

Re: Hello
Lovely looking PZ and a TPS rebuild is a guarantee of a virtually new engine. I am not a fan of the PZ suspension despite having new Bilstein shocks on the front. I am happier with standard shocks and lowered Eibach springs.

Re: Hello
Welcome
PZ is the best option, IMO but the springs are a weakness, I personally wouldn't have second hand springs.
I am running Teins which I personally find excellent until the day I can source a completely new set of shocks and springs.
Look after the wheels and centre caps as previously advised.

Re: Hello
Thanks HarSc
Unfortunately it was limited to 1 year, so has expired. I've contacted TPS for details of the rebuild, so may ask if a warranty extension is possible.
More photos are inevitable! And club membership is high on my list.

Re: Hello
That's reassuring, I've read they are the best compromise/upgrade-from-stock if a new PZ set is not available.
I will be looking after my wheel caps, it's not the first time I've read that!

Re: Hello
The stance looks okay in the photo, which suggests the ride height at the rear is about right.
Have a look at the springs and see if the ends are sitting properly in the seats.
PZ dampers have flat seats so need ground flat springs, not the same as OEM.
It may be that the original PZ rear springs have been replaced with correct spec (free-length, poundage, etc) motorsport springs, in which case all is good.

Re: Hello
Ah, that's a shame. Was going to say - it's always worth a shot getting in touch and finding out any more details or trying to continue with any warranty that is (or in your case is not) there.BarbedWire wrote: ↑Mon Apr 05, 2021 12:24 pmThanks HarScUnfortunately it was limited to 1 year, so has expired. Re: Hello
Definitely odd shocks, springs also have different colour dots ( I know this doesn't necessarily mean they are different).

Re: Hello
I have an Anniversary currently which had the correct Bilstein on the front and those Gas-a-just things on the back and it drove like absolute sh1t!
Lucky I had a spare set of Bilstein so have sorted it now, I really like the PZ set up myself so hopefully you can find a suitable set - there is a used set available via a club member (Neil Parry I think?). One option would be to buy them and have them refurbished by Bilstein before fitting but that would probably be costly.

Re: Hello
I'll have a look. I also saw these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154371569823. But that's more expensive than a set of Teins for second hand shocks and springs...
