Gearbox Oil leak

Hi,

I currently have my RX8 6 speed gearbox on the floor of my garage. it appears to be leaking oil from the gasket between the gearbox and the gear selector, as opposed to the one between the gearbox and bell housing.

Is this a difficult fix? I'm not at all familiar with this box, so forgive me if this is in entirely wrong! If I slack the bolts, would there be enough room to slide in a new gasket or some liquid gasket?

There is also a small amount of play in the output shaft, not much but 'while it's out' I can see the cover plate and presume this carries the oil seal is there a bearing behind that that is accessible without stripping the box?

Hope you can point me in the right direction.
