Hello all,
I was previously a member of the Owner's Club and was pleased to drive RX53FUN, a car I bought from a member of this forum. I didn't keep it for particularly long after switching from a long commute to work, to only needing to drive short distances - not far enough to warm the engine up fully! I have missed that car since selling it (and I believe it has now died along with so many others due to no MOT since Sept 2018.
I almost bought another RX8 in late 2018 from LC Rotary but, luckily it seems, I didn't end up buying it.
That same vehicle came up for sale today, from the guy that LC Rotary sold it to and this time I have bought it!
Here's the list of work carried out by past owners:
Full genuine Mazdaspeed kit
Mazdaspeed rear diffuser
Mazdaspeed oil cooler ducts
Custom made carbon bonnet
Custom made carbon boot lid
Carbon rear trunk lid
R3 style e/rotary rear led lights
Rear adjustable brace in boot ( rear strut brace )
Corbeu fixed back with luke harnesses
321Ti 3" manifold back system
Tubular exhaust manifold
Rotary revs uprated coil packs with magnecor leads
Rotary revs 100mm maf tube
Lightened pulley set
Air pump delete
Lightened flywheel with exedy stage 2 clutch
Racing beat enclosed induction kit ( cai )
Mapped to 256hp
Various engine covers carbon dipped
Passenger seat , door cards etc retrimmed black leather with carbon dipped seat backing
New bose amps for door speakers
Kode seude steering wheel
Kode shifter and short shift
Rotary emblem volume knob
Cmst 18x9 wheels
Pirelli pzero tyres
Blue stuff front pads
Dba discs front and rear
Ferrodo rear pads
Racing beat front roll bar
Racing beat real roll bar
Racing beat drop links all round
HSD monopro coil overs with custom springs ( comfy )
Engine covered 4219 miles since done , goopy apex seals , new side seals etc and full master seal kit fitted , housings refaced , new water pump , new oil metering pump etc , mild ( street ) port on housings
Windows tinted limo rear 50% front tint
Large sunstrip
Driver side sill fully replaced for new Mazda sill and sealed / painted as well as bumpers etc to tidy up
Kode bonnet raisers
Kode coolant cap
I am well aware of the recent problems that LC Rotary have been under. The guy that bought it from LC Rotary in 2018 has since rebuilt the engine himself and had one of the sills replaced and repainted. I am hopeful that the car will be back to a decent standard but I am prepared to get the engine rebuilt again if required.
The first step for me will be to change the Corbeu seat and harness, Kode seude steering wheel and gear knob for a standard items.
If any one might be interested in a swap let me know!
Oh, and I'm glad to be back!

Here's a few photos of the car that were posted on LC Rotary's Facebook account. (I'm not at home right now so can't take any photos of it myself!)

The Evolve interior would look magic with that blue.
Alcantara is my favourite seat material. As hard-wearing as "leather" without being hot in the summer and cold in the winter, or slippery.

A deal has been done with a virtual handshake via WhatsApp involving the Corbeau seat, Luke Harness, Evolve Interior and some other bits too despite the poor signal strength in the Congo Jungle!!!!

Yes, thanks Chris - I agree that the Evolve interior we look fantastic and I’m looking forward to getting home and getting them swapped over!
In the meanwhile... what purpose do the bonnet raisers serve? Should I leave them on at take them off?

Re: New / Old Member
In theory "bonnet raisers" reduce the engine bay temperatures, which may be a good thing for cars that have aftermarket turbos or some other major source of engine bay heat and don't have the normal air circulation. They were made popular for highly-modified drift cars, that both have massive heat and poor air, because they're going relatively slowly and mainly sideways.
Beyond that they are purely for wannabe posers and, worse still, the RX-8 has an issue with too much air flow in the engine bay, which is why they had to blank off the area below the front numberplate. Chilling of the nearside of the block causes condensation in the oil.
Short Answer: Take them off, throw them away.

Re: New / Old Member
Thanks to Chris, I have got a pretty solid plan for how the car will move forward on my return...
I've sorted a deal with him for a full interior from an Evolve model including door cards and seats, plus his lambo hinges and a standard steering wheel and gear knob.
Looking forward to getting home and getting it all sorted out!

Re: New / Old Member
Just searching for a pic of my old car, and found this thread.
I also owned RX53FUN - bought it from a guy near Swindon.
Sold it to a guy down Essex-way about 2 years later as I started a job that was 50miles per day which wasn't ideal at 18mgp!
But yeah, I checked a while back and it didn't have an MOT anymore, so I guess the engine went bang and it got scrapped. Shame, it was a cracking car, the mods on it were lovely. Did you put them on? (exhuast, springs, body kit, spoiler off the top of my head)

Yeah I think I found the perfect kit for my RX8 now.... The Mazdaspeed kit for the RX8 is just something else. My mate Dan has a Phantom Blue with the same kit on and my god that's just in a league of it's own.
Yours is super nice man!
