They can mask it with fast starter
If car won't start hot run away unless cheap and you have money to rebuild
Ahhh this is a shame as it’s a solid car otherwise, I’ll speak to the garage tomorrow and see what they have to say and express my concern that it may require an engine rebuild. See what they have to say.

Okay, well the garage still have the car so it’s in their best interest to get it working if they want my cash.

I will be asking them tomorrow if they intend to get a compression test done to rule out engine rebuild then go from there.

Not sure where your closest specialist is... But try to make sure they get a proper compression test done. If all else fails give Luke Murdoch a call I'm sure if he can he would be willing to comrpession test it for the garage.

The garage itself is in Mansfield (Nottinghamshire) I’m near Chesterfield, we have a Mazda garage in Mansfield so I would assume they could do it if there’s no one else. But I’ll keep in mind asking Luke.

I would get Luke to do it rather than a Mazda garage to be honest.

You may find that the seller is clueless, which you may be able to use to your advantage. if the bodywork is in a good rust free condition, that can out weigh engine issues if the price is right.

that would need to be in concourse condition if there was even a hint of engine issues, even with an r3.

I had my rx8 listed for less than 2k with hand full of mods and compression above 7 and 0 interest
And now I have another bag of mods
Including aem cusco carbon wing japspeed and re amemya carbon bonnet haha money pit.

3.5k I'm expecting rust free car good engine

I’m going to see if the garage will put the issue right even if it’s an engine rebuild, or they need to dramatically reduce the price.

what year is it? any s1 would be at a max of £1k with those issues. and that's a car in otherwise perfect condition.

3.5k is in r3 territory, and even then id expect it to run properly!

Rust free car and believed to be a good engine till I’ve pointed out there is a big problem that the garage is now looking at.

It’s a 2006 PZ and the body is in very good condition and no rust, I think the engine issues I’ve discovered has surprised them a little.

It makes you wonder what other issues may surprise them, given that an engine that wont start is pretty hard to miss, tread carefully.

well it did start till I got it back with a warm engine then attempted to start it up again! I could see the horror in his face! Was amusing.

i'd offer him £1k for it, and budget for a rebuild and new ignition and cat. id put my money on all the above being needed, and you should manage it with a £3.5k budget.

He was in Guildford but I think he's moved recently - but he is mobile and will go anywhere. He is easiest to contact on Facebook I think https://www.facebook.com/Murdochs-Rotar ... 174826564/ but I will PM his number to you.

Yeah Haydn,my guy has a few in stock so I'm fine in that respect, the quandary I find myself in is that she'll be going in to storage soon enough so do I service her or not? :-k

So I’ve Phoned the garage today to ask for an update on the PZ to be told he’s waiting a report from the garage as to what the issue is, he said it could need a full engine rebuild so I asked in that case what do you plan to do?

They said they’ll get it repaired then the price will have to go up! It’s starting to look a little expensive for the car if it’s already priced at £3.5k and they want to increase that should a rebuild take place.

Back to searching I think.
