Exhaust touching crossmember

Post by starkslewis »

So after my clutch change I did myself on my driveway (I'm no mechanic) the manifold was resting on the cross member bracket. Before the clutch change it was not. Is there a way you can adjust the powerplant frame to make the gearbox sit a bit higher? or is it that the engine mounts have gone and need replacing. It's making a horrible vibration throughout my seat and pedals and the noise isnt very pleasant either.

Did you re-align the PPF? If not then the DIY is available in the members workshop manual section. After fitting my clutch we had to adjust the PPF up by about 1/2” and it is a critical part of refitting it.

If not related to the clutch change, This can be a symptom of engine mounts failing. Probably offside/drivers side.

I tried fitting a dual res decat, and had the same issue, so had to go back to original cat and then replace engine mounts.
