New member in Wilts

Post by Kev80 »

Hi all,

Just decided to join up, I've recently acquired a reasonably tidy 2007 RX8 231 in Galaxy Grey. Doesn't have an MOT, but I'm planning to drop the running gear into a 600kg kit car.

Always loved the rotary engine, and this one could do with a rebuild, so it's on it's way out anyway!

I'll be breaking the car for parts, excluding the electrical system, engine and trans, and probably asking lots of questions along the way regarding electrical interfaces!!!

Down side of course is that I've got the bug now, so will probably be on the look out for a nice one as a daily driver too!

Whereabouts in Wilts? I'm giving strong consideration to swapping out my Westfield engine for an RX-8 lump. Just trying to work out a way of getting around the height of the intake manifold.

Hi all, didnt realise my topic had been approved!

I'll add my.location, and thanks for the warm welcome. The kit in question is a MEV exocet, which being NA/NB MX5 based is causing me plenty of headaches!

I'm using the wiring loom and lump from the RX8, using a customised front subframe, RX7/MX5 hybrid gearbox with concentric slave conversion and RX8 clutch/flywheel combo. There are many, many challenges, and I wouldn't advocate doing this unless you really have masses of time on your hands!

I suspect you'd need some idea of what you're doing as well as the masses of time to do it. :-k Good luck with all that anyway.

New member in wiltshire? With a shell they want to get rid of parts from? My ears are pricked!

Welcome to the club, I'd highly recommend the small cost of buying membership for the wealth of support and technical data you get access to. I'm based near Salisbury and whilst not an expert am always happy to lend a spanner!
