Hello everyone,
I’ve been looking at buying a RX8 for a few months now and ones came up that’s caught my eye and was wondering what people’s opinions were on it
It’s on a 06 plate 3 owners from new 12 months mot leather 231 6speed manual.full stamped service history 65000 miles on the clock. New battery and brake pads, all paperwork and v5. No hot/cold starting issues.
What sort of price range do you think this should be achieving
Thanks for reading, hope to be the proud owner of one soon

Re: Newbie looking to buy first RX8
1st and greatest thing is a compression test
if it starts hot then great but ask for a compression test and you want at least 6's on all faces
if it has this then 2 to 2.5K
there's a few for sale on this site too best to start there and then look on Big pete's site ( boston rotary) as he won't sell rubbish
and whats the rust like as they rot on the sills and rear arches
when was the ignition system last refreshed

Re: Newbie looking to buy first RX8
Based on just the information given, between £500-1500.
If there's no rust underneath & has a decent compression test, then somewhere around £2k-£3k is probably reasonable.

Hi and Zxninja. and also, have you read the Buyers Guide? viewtopic.php?f=25&t=24047
Hopefully it will all work out and you'll be an RX-8 owner soon.

Thanks for the replies guys.
He’s asking £1250 for it so it’s maybe worth while biding my time

Hmm I personally think for that price if the body's in good Nick and it starts when hot and starts after 10 mins it would be a good buy at that price but check the coils as there going to cost £300 + to change , always knock him down on price !

Re: Newbie looking to buy first RX8
At £1250 or less then yes I would have a punt at it. Biggest thing for me would be bodywork and rust issues as has been said above. If it’s good then go for it. You may be lucky and the engine is ok, if it’s been looked after. It will also depend on your budget overall, can you factor in the cost of a rebuild if it needed one further on down the line.
These cars are very rewarding to drive and are so much fun, but they will always [edited] your wallet, whether it just be fuel costs or you get the bug and start looking at new shiny bits to add.

I wish they'd been that sort of price when I bought mine nearly 13 years ago.

Re: Newbie looking to buy first RX8
I'm sadly considering selling mine as I need to free up resources for a new family car
A good solid car bought from BigPete just over a year ago.
PM me if you want more details.
