Back in with an R3

Hey folks!
I bought another 8 last weekend, after selling my first (55 plate 192) over five years ago at 99k.
I found an R3 with 35k on the clock, perfect start and idle. Couldn't believe my luck!

Just got it back from the tyre shop, as the tracking felt off and the tyres were bargain basement Sunitrac Focus 9000.
Four new Pirellis and it handles like a dream! It's amazing the difference new tyres make.

In for a full Mazda service next week as there's no service history.
The only issue I've found so far is that the steering is heavy and pulls left, I'll get the ground contacts cleaned up and grease the UJ, hopefully that's all it needs...

Full Mazda service...? ;)

I'd consider getting a specialist do the deed, personally!

Looks like a really nice and tidy R3!

Echoing what Dan said, your nearest specialist is LC Rotary/Motorsport, get it over to them instead of Mazda

And probably a lot cheaper leaving you more to spend on fuel Image

Or get Luke Murdoch on to it and spend zero on fuel ( he is mobile and only in Guildford) :)

Wow what a huge amount of advice, thanks!
Mazda service cancelled, booked in at LC Rotary! Looks to be about half the quoted price from Mazda :thumright:

I'm loving the look of the white, especially with the R3 wheels. It's a shame the weather means it constantly looks dirty at the moment!

R.e. the body kit, any good UK importers? Not that I'm looking to spend any more money in the next few months. Tyres, service and tax cost me almost as much as the car :?

Looking good.
Have a crystal white myself and they are real head turners.
Well done.

I got mine from japanparts.com and whilst the kit was not overly expensive the shipping was almost as much as the kit  Oh and don't forget the customs too...

If you want a fairly cheap, but pretty effective bodywork modification on an R3, consider getting the grille, foglight surrounds and front 'splitter' section painted in gloss black. I have it on mine and it looks awesome, but I can imagine it looking rather swish and sexy against the white!

Admittedly a friend did mine, so the cost was less than normal, but most places would be able to do it for a couple of hundred pounds, probably even less.

Yeah that looks lovely. Was considering a CF bonnet, wrapping those front components in CF vinyl would look awesome.
Should probably sort out the calipers first as they ruin the look from the side.

I'm away for the April meet but will be coming in May. Handy it's so close, not really long enough to get the engine warm!

Welcome to the club and congratulations on the purchase - crystal white is 100% the best colour (not that i'm biased or anything...) :thumright:

The very first time we saw a Crystal White we were following Paul, coming off the A12 at the roundabout at Borham under sodium lights, and we both thought it was a Lightning Yellow with a fancy spoiler.

We were going to the Essex meet and it was most confusing when we pulled up in the carpark and looking for the LY, only to see a white 8 coming from the other side.

My '68 Alfa Romeo is white and I'd be tempted to get her sprayed Crystal White, as the pearl just adds that bit of zing.

 Dave!

You'll be fitting a set of 21" chrome wheels and an alligator skin dashboard next. [-X

She's a beauty. Really like the RE-A front grille. The only issue I have is no place to mount license plate, and tickets in my country are now super expensive for not having one.

Specialist may also be able to reset the steering problem via the ecu it's often that and not something mechanical.
